💙 Officers in the house! 👮‍♂️📖

We had a fantastic visit from the Avondale PD at the Lit Hub! They stopped by to share invaluable tips on neighborhood safety and how to talk to our kids about staying safe.
The absolute highlight? Our Jumpstart students joined in on the fun! The officers read them a great story about police officers, answered their questions, and—of course—handed out some awesome stickers! 🎟️✨

A huge thank you to Avondale PD for investing in our kids and keeping our community strong.

Avondale Elementary School District's Summer Literacy Hub is heading into Week 2, and we have a fantastic lineup of daily presentations and interactive family fun planned!

📅 When: Monday, June 8th – Thursday, June 11th
⏰ Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM daily
📍 Location: Eliseo C. Felix | 540 E La Pasada Blvd, Goodyear, AZ 85338

✨ What to Expect:
8:00 AM - 9:00 AM | Daily Presentations: Covering helpful topics like literacy kits, community resources, youth wellness, and early reading tips. (Free child care provided during this hour!)

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Family Time: Hands-on activities including crafts, reading games, building forts, and a family movie day!

☕ Perks: Free refreshments (coffee, water, and snacks) will be available for families.

📚✨ The Summer Lit Hub is officially up and running!

We kicked off our first session with an engaging presentation from Read Better Be Better, where families received literacy kits, learned strategies for reading with their children, and practiced partner reading together. Best of all, every child took home a free book to continue building their love of reading!

After the presentation, families stayed to enjoy literacy games and activities together, making reading fun and interactive for everyone.

Missed the first session? There's still time to join! Read Better Be Better will return the next two Mondays to provide the same valuable training and resources for families.

Families are invited to participate in our free summer meals program for all children under the age of 18. The program starts tomorrow! Meals will be served Monday through Friday beginning June 1 through Wednesday, June 17, at Michael Anderson School, located at 45 S. Third Avenue. 🏫✨

⏰ MEAL SCHEDULE:
🥞 Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
🥪 Lunch will be available from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon.

The summer meal program helps ensure children continue to have access to healthy and nutritious meals while school is out for the summer. ☀️🥛🥦

Yesterday, we proudly celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the newest IDIA Hive, now located in our historic District Office building! 🎉

This innovative space expands access to technology, training, and resources for learners of all ages. From VR and 3D printing to robotics and digital creativity tools, the Hive is designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and opportunity for our entire community...all free of charge! Families can also connect with Digital Navigators for support with internet basics and digital learning resources.

We are proud to partner with IDIA to help bridge the digital divide and create new opportunities for students and families across Avondale!
