What is a Legacy?
A Legacy is 30.5 years of service in public education at one place. Julie Vastine has served Millennium since before it was officially Millennium High School. She served thousands of students in her Science classes ranging from regular to AP. In addition she mentored countless colleagues. Her students became teachers. Her student athletes became coaches.
Coach Vastine turned Millennium into one of the premier girls volleyball programs in the state during her 12 years as head coach. She led her team to the state championship game in 7 of those 12 years including 6 in a row. Her teams won 2 state championships and 5 state championship runner-ups. She guided the Tigers to the number 4 ranking in the country by Maxpreps in 2018. Coach also won the region championship 10 times. She was conference coach of the year 4 times, region coach of the year 8 times and the 2018 AVCA Regional Coach of the year. While she won many accolades it was never about anything except helping the student athletes she served. 46 of those student athletes went on to play college volleyball. That is a legacy that is nothing short of Legendary! We are excited to recognize Coach Vastine as the first Legend to be honored in our future Legends Plaza.
Thank you Coach Vastine for being YOU!
