This week, we’re celebrating the power of a simple “hello” and reminding our Desert Star students that small connections can lead to BIG connections! 🌟
Start With Hello Week encourages us to see someone, say hello, include others, speak up, and be an upstander. Let’s make sure everyone feels seen, valued, welcomed, and connected! 💚

HERE'S WHAT IS HAPPENING EACH DAY:
🎬 MONDAY – Meet You Monday
Show Your Style, Share a Smile!
Dress as a character from your favorite TV show, movie, or meme. Get creative and let your personality shine!
💬 How we connect: Find common ground and start a conversation.

👯 TUESDAY – Team Up Together Tuesday
Find Your Crew, Show Your Team!
Dress as twins, triplets, a group, or wear a jersey representing a team you love.
💬 How we connect: Build your support system, help make school a place where everyone belongs, and remember—your team can be the people who support you, not just a sports team!

💚 WEDNESDAY – Wear Green Wednesday
Inclusivi-TEES for You & Me!
Wear green as we stand together for connection, kindness, and belonging.
💬 How we connect: Notice who may be left out, invite others in, and help create a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and welcome.

📼 THURSDAY – Trusted Adult Thursday
Speak Up & Throw It Back!
Dress in your favorite 2000s style or an earlier decade—or dress like a trusted adult, including a teacher! 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫
💬 How we connect: Know your trusted adults. Speak up. Ask for help. You’re not alone.

🎒 FRIDAY – Carry Your Connections
Pack Your People, Not Just Your Pencils!
Anything BUT a backpack! Get creative and carry your school supplies in a suitcase, basket, bucket, pillowcase, wagon, or whatever works for you!
💬 How we connect: Think about the people, strengths, skills, and support systems you carry with you every day—not just the things you carry in your backpack.

We have two great opportunities to connect, share ideas, and help plan upcoming fun for our school community! Join us whether you want to drop in for a few minutes or stay the whole time.

🎉🪙🪙 Congratulations to the 3 classrooms that are our Coin Wars Champions! 🪙🪙🎉

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our Desert Star community, our school raised a total amount of $1377.70!!!!
Every penny truly made a difference, but three classrooms went above and beyond to claim the top spots.

🥇 1st Place: Mrs. Lopez $313.00 🏆
🥈 2nd Place: Mrs. Bartel $133.00
🥉 3rd Place: Mrs. Lutha $127.00

🎉 The winning classes will enjoy their prizes next week and Mrs. Lopez will be gifted this personalized gift basket.

A huge THANK YOU to all of the students, parents, and staff who donated their spare change and helped make this fundraiser such a massive success. Your support and generosity are what make our school community so amazing!

🚨 Sweet news! Our Desert Star chocolate fundraiser is OFFICIALLY LIVE! We are selling delicious World's Finest Chocolate bars for just $2 each. Chocolate sales begin today August 24th until September 21st.

Grab your favorite flavor, satisfy your sweet tooth, and help us reach our goal. 50% of all sales go towards our school PTSO which funds Desert Star school events throughout the year.

Permission slips will be going home today, slips need to be signed before students are allowed to begin selling.

It’s time to dig through those couch cushions, piggy banks, and cup holders because Desert Star PTSO is kicking off our CHANGE WARS! 🎉

Bring your extra cash or coins and drop them in the collection container located in your homeroom.

🏆 The Top 3 Classes Win PRIZES! 🏆
And yes… PAPER MONEY AND COINS ARE ACCEPTED! 💵🪙

Every penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and dollar helps! All proceeds will benefit Desert Star PTSO and help us continue supporting our students and school. ❤️🦂

📣 Desert Star PTSO Meeting Today! 📣

Join us today at 3:20 PM in Mrs. Lutha’s classroom for our last PTSO meeting of this school year. We will be voting on the new board members for the 2026–2027 school year. Please plan on attending to have your voice heard and help shape next year’s events and activities for our school community!

We also invite all parents to fill out the questionnaire using the QR code provided, as your feedback helps inform important decisions for next year. If you are planning to run for a position, please be sure to complete the questionnaire and include that information as well.
