Going back in time on a TBT!!! This was taken @ the Jimmie Stavris Drum School & Shop in the waiting room/store area. Behind me to the right is the entrance to the studio where my Dad taught. It was 1980, I was just starting high school, and had just gotten most of the drums in the photo. As I recall, my new 22" BD had not arrived yet, so I used the 20" from my older set in the same WMP.

It's time to RANT!!! I'm seeing way too many ads for OnLine Drum Courses that are going to "unlock the secrets" and make you what I'm going to term the "Six Million Dollar" Drummer (you know, faster, stronger, better, etc.) In just One Week, or whatever BS they are selling. While I'm sure this advertising works (just like the negative political commercials we see.. ) all it really does is put money in the pocket of those that are already doing just fine, and provide false hope to those who really want to get better. Do you want to be the BEST DRUMMER you can be???
Here's the "Secret", the Holy Grail if you will, the Words of Wisdom that will take you to the promise land!!! Are you ready, because I'm going to give this "Valuable Information" away for FREE!!! Right now, right here, on the wonderful world of Facebook! Just for you!!! Don't go blabbing this to your friends, or repost, or anything like that, this is way to special!!! Oh, and before anyone feels the need to disagree, I will say up front that this is MY OPINION!! You are free to disagree and send your hard earned cash to "Joe's Speedy Feet" Drum-O-Rama. No need to write me back with your 2 cents if you don't feel the FREE advice is worth it, just scroll on by to the next post!
For those of you who don't know me (even though we are FB friends.. how is that possible? LOL)
I'm about to turn 59 and I started playing at the age of 5. My Dad owned a drum school, and for most of my life, it was in my house. He taught my Uncle, Brother, me and about 2500 other students over a career that lasted almost 40 years. I started playing out and booking my own band when I was 13, and opened up the DrumChops Drum School (Now in Goodyear, Az) in 2008. I'm an open book, and have plenty of stuff on my Drumchops.com website and YouTube channel (AZDrumchops) as well as right here on everyone's favorite platform of Social Information... Facebook (The social networking page we Love to Hate, but can't live without)!
Ok, if you read through my RANT thus far, and are still with me, and saying just get on with it and give me the FREE advice you promised!!!
1. Find a Good teacher that you resonate with and treat those lessons with respect! Be prepared each week and don't just work on the Lesson, but PLAY and utilize what you are learning in your Playing. If you find an area of your playing that you are not happy with, discuss it with the instructor and if he can't develop a lesson plan to address it, find another teacher.
2. Practice, Practice, Practice .. was that enough, maybe one more.. Practice!!! Nobody gets great overnight, and nobody gets anything without working for it. If this is what you want, Make the time! Practice the lessons, and then find some other musicians and PLAY!

The reasons for the lessons are to open your mind and become accountable to work at your craft each week and get out of your comfort zone while working towards your individual goals!

If you happen to be in the Phoenix, Az area.. perhaps a bit West of the Big City, look me up. I might be the right teacher for you. I don't promise blazing speed or awesome chops because all I can do is teach you the techniques I use. The rest would be up to you!
