Thank you, Dubb Martin, member of the Goochland YMCA, for sharing your success story!
Please allow me a couple of minutes of your time to tell you something you might just find amazing, and helpful.
About one year back. I had become tired of being overweight and exhausted all the time feeling like I had no energy and with a little push from a good friend, I walked into the Goochland County Family YMCA and requested a tour of the facility. I was greeted by the nicest lady named Barbara and she scheduled me with one of the Personal Trainers, Ann Taylor, that walked me through the entire property including GYM, Pool Area, Showers, Locker rooms, and a thorough explanation of all the equipment. WOW, what a great place this location turned out to be, and Mrs. Taylor knows her business.
It was right then I knew, I needed to join and begin some type of exercise program to change not only my general heath, but ends up, my life. Let me elaborate please. First, the YMCA is a great place with a friendly family environment offering everything anyone could ever need to become more physically fit, lose weight and get healthy. The help I received from Staff and Gym Members was incredible and so helpful for a beginner.
I did notice a difference in weight loss in around 3 months, and when I saw my Cardiologist at around 5 months, He took me off the Blood Pressure meds I had been taking for years. YES, I did make some significant changes to my eating habits as well and gave up the Junk foods and sugar drinks and don’t even miss them now.
Get A Load Of This: I just saw my Primary Care Physician on August 3,2026, marking nearly one year since I joined and he has taken away the Cholesterol meds also on a trial basis with follow up labs this November. I am clearly a different person today than in August last year and my health reports prove it. OH, I almost forgot to tell you, I have also lost more than 20 pounds, always sleep better and rise every day feeling rested and energized. What a huge difference this experience has made for me and could likely be made for anyone willing to give it a go. I would like to put out a personal challenge to anyone interested in taking better care of themself and please join me and the amazing People at the YMCA. I just turned 75 this past July and I bet you I could win the 75-year-old contest if they had one at my YMCA?
Finally, God Bless the incredible Staff at this YMCA and to all the caring friends I have made since last year. I am in much better health today mentally and physically and blessed and surrounded by people that care.
Thank You for allowing me your time to share what I am calling my success story, and I hope it inspires you to come!
