Hi! My name is Theresa the Turtle.

If you've been following St. John Primary/St. Theresa Middle, you may have seen a few posts about me. If you were a 4th or 5th grader at St. Theresa Middle, you probably already know who I am. But if not, let me tell you my story.

Mrs. Lee, a long-time teacher at St. Theresa, had been battling cancer for over four years. During that difficult journey, turtles became a special reminder that, through God, she could handle anything that was thrown her way. Because of this, Mrs. Lee loved all things turtles. She decorated her classroom with them, wore turtle jewelry, and even came to school dressed as a turtle!

In the beginning of last school year, a student named Boston brought me to St. Theresa Middle as a gift for Mrs. Lee. I quickly settled into my new home, and the students loved having me around.

In November, Mrs. Lee took a break from teaching to focus on her health, but she wanted me to stay with my Warrior family. Our new teacher, Mrs. Smith, happily welcomed me as the class pet, and I continued to spend my days with the students.

Mrs. Lee fought her battle with cancer fiercely and courageously. Although we were heartbroken when God called her home to Heaven, we know that she is now at peace—happy, healthy, and whole in His loving presence.

I miss Mrs. Lee very much, but I know her faith continues to inspire everyone who knew her.

I hope I am more than just a classroom pet. I hope I serve as a daily reminder that, with faith in God, we can face life's challenges with courage and perseverance. Like a turtle, we can be shell-strong, keep moving forward, and trust God's plan—one slow and steady step at a time.

I'll be coming out of my shell from time to time to share my adventures from around campus. Keep an eye out for future posts from me—you never know where this turtle might turn up next!
