Poem written by Kate Vidrine, 1st grade Senior Counselor:

Twas the last day of summer camp, when all through the school,not a child was ready, not even at carpool.

The artwork was hung on the fridge that was bare,
to show why they had paint all stuck in their hair.

The pre-k and kindergartners were nestled all snug on their mats,
while listening to melodies before summer camp is a wrap.

And kids in their blue shirt, and I in my green,had just had the best summer ever,
as children of the King.

While out on the field, children were running and splashing,
All you could hear was the laughter from kids that were passing.

As the fire truck sprayed, and all the children played,
There were teams playing slip and slide kickball, giving it their all.

Away to the inflatables children were sliding and climbing,That’s until they hear it’s time for them to get ice cream.

The ice cream truck pulled up, to give kids sweet treats,
The fun they had at camp just can’t be beat.

when, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
All eight grades are performing for this summer camp year!

With a song and dance, so lively and quick,
I knew this was a talent show, that no one would forget

More rapid than eagles, all the grades came,
and we whistled and shouted and called them by name: “Now Pre-k! Now Kindergarten!
Now, First grade and Second! On, Third grade! On, Fourth grade! On, Fifth and sixth!
To the top of the bleachers!
To the floor to perform!
Now sing away! Dance away!
Perform for us today!"

Alas, summer camp can’t last,
We all shed a tear, but it’s okay, summer camp will be back next year!

PK/K had a blast at the Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center.
