Ascension Public Schools to Close on Monday, January 26, 2026

Out of an abundance of caution and with the safety of our students, staff, and families as our top priority, school campuses and offices will be closed on Monday, January 26th to allow everyone to stay safe and warm. This includes the suspension of all extracurricular activities on Monday.

Ascension Parish is expected to experience extreme cold temperatures Sunday evening and Monday morning that could create unsafe conditions, including icy roads and sidewalks.

Closing campuses also allows our maintenance teams the time they need to assess school facilities and ensure everything is safe and ready for students and staff to return.

Thank you for your flexibility and partnership as we take extra steps to care for our people.

We will continue to monitor the weather and provide updates, as needed. For official updates and decisions, please continue to check our website at AscensionSchools.org.

To aid recovery efforts, The Ascension Fund established a Flood Recovery Fund to help Ascension Public Schools restore a sense of normalcy for students affected by the disaster. Within a few months, more than $336,000 was raised, including a $50,000 contribution from Taylor Swift!
