Dos Pueblos Chargers Baseball

I am sorry to report that we have lost a member of a Charger Baseball royalty family, Dan Feldhaus Sr.

Dan had three sons—Dan Jr. ('87), Jeff ('90), and David ('94)—and two grandsons, Josh ('17) and Nate ('20), who all wore Charger blue.

Dan was a longtime coach and board member at Dos Pueblos Little League as his sons came through the program.

He was a positive, gregarious guy who loved the Cincinnati Reds and was well known for his "tongue-out" curveball that he would throw at practice.

His son Dan Jr. went on to coach baseball at DP and served as the school's Athletic Director for many years.

His son David was also a longtime coach at DP, works at the school, and can be seen umpiring many of our games.

The Feldhaus family has been part of Charger Baseball for generations, and Dan Sr. was where that tradition began.

RIP, Dan. You will be missed.

Kellan on the mound against Texas at 3:00 today!

Well our UCSB Gauchos just won and advance to the championship round in the Austin NCAA Regionals against University of Texas on their home field at 3:00 our time.

You may watch it on ESPN+.

Our own Kellan Montgomery (DP '22) gets the start against the 6th ranked team in the country who won their first two games by a combined score of 35-3.

We will have to beat them twice.

Charger Collegiate Baseball Update - Cape Cod action for Jesse Di Maggio, Ryan Speshyock and Carson Mercier!

- Jesse Di Maggio (DP '24) - The sophomore catcher/DH for our hometown D2 Westmont hit .309 with 13 home runs and 43 RBI for the Warriors this season.

He has been invited to play for Cotuit in the prestigious Cape Cod Collegiate League this summer, becoming the 3rd Charger in a row to be invited following Kellan Montgomery and Ryan Speshyock's participation the last two summers.

Those three are believed to be the only Chargers besides current big leaguer James McCann to ever play in Cape Cod.

- Ryan Speshyock (DP '23) - The junior right handed pitcher for D1 Stanford did not play this season as he had Tommy John surgery this winter but hopes to continue his career next spring.

- Carson Mercier (DP '22), a former DP varsity catcher/pitcher who is pursuing a sports broadcasting career at the University of Oregon, will be part of the Cotuit team with Jesse, as he has been offered and accepted the play by play radio announcer position for the season.

Carson has been announcing baseball and other sports at Oregon, UCSB before that, and a couple summers with the Walnut Creek Crawdads collegiate summer team

Collegiate Charger update - State champions!

Charger Baseball is pleased to recognize Charlie Potter (DP '25) of the Santa Ana JC Dons who just won the state championship for California Junior Colleges earlier this week!

Charlie, a freshman outfielder, hit 375 in 16 ABs over the course of the season.

Congratulations Charlie!

Charger Collegiate Baseball Update - Part 1

A couple notes on the success of Charger alums this season starting with Kellan Montgomery (DP '22).

The right handed senior pitcher, who transferred from Long Beach State to UCSB for his senior season, earned 2nd Team Big West honors with his top 10 standing in conference ERA, Ks and Innings Pitched, along with a 3rd place spot in Wins.

Kellan got the win in the final regular season game to secure the Big West championship for the Gauchos.

Stay tuned as UCSB landed an at large berth to participate in the NCAA Tournament Austin regionals starting on Friday.

Charger Baseball alums turned out in strength at the CIF quarter-final game yesterday.

And as Roberto Catalan (bottom left) said, "Tough loss today, but win, lose, or tie, it's DP 4 Life. Happy to see my DP Family."

Pacifica 11, Dos Pueblos 2

The Chargers struggled to keep up with the Tritons in a league loss on Wednesday at Scott O’Leary Field in Goleta.

Noah Connolly provided an RBI single for Dos Pueblos to score Stone Saunders, while Logan Pearce hurled three shutout innings of relief.

The Chargers (11-2, 4-1 CL) will head to Oxnard for a rematch with Pacifica on Friday.

Dos Pueblos 6, Lompoc 3

The Chargers won their non-league matchup with Lompoc on Saturday at Scott O’Leary Field in Goleta.

Dos Pueblos’ Luke Jackson fired four strong innings in the win, allowing one earned run and striking out a pair. Max Cruise tossed a scoreless inning of relief, while Matti Di Maggio slammed the door in the seventh for the save.

Di Maggio also roped a home run on the offensive end, while Jameson Barth came through with a go-ahead, two-run single and Evan Bean added to hits.

The Chargers are now 11-1 and remain 4-0 in Channel League play.
