Today we share this special Story Time video in memory of our dear volunteer tutor, Brie Smith.
Brie was a quiet but bright light at Literacy Connections. For years, she faithfully gave her time each week to help adult learners work toward their educational goals. She believed deeply in the power of reading and learning, and she shared that passion with everyone she met.
Those of us who knew Brie will remember her creativity, her bubbly spirit, and her thoughtful generosity. She often surprised us with handmade gifts and small acts of kindness that brought joy to our days. She never sought recognition, but she made a lasting difference in the lives of her learners, her fellow volunteers, and our entire Literacy Connections family.
In this video, Brie shares her love of reading and offers encouragement to parents and grandparents about the importance of reading aloud to children. It is a beautiful reflection of who she was—a teacher, a learner, a giver, and an advocate for literacy.
We are grateful for the time we had with Brie and for the legacy she leaves behind. Though she preferred to stay out of the spotlight, the light she shared with others will not be forgotten.
Thank you, Brie. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

🙌 Every day, we see adult learners prove their determination, resilience, and potential. When given the chance to learn, every adult has the potential to unlock opportunities that have always been within reach.
✨ For the 59 million American adults who read at the lowest levels, let’s shift the narrative. When we can ensure that every one of them has access to quality education, we will see our communities thrive. Read more: https://hubs.la/Q04f86M70
