WCC Nursing is spotlighting our Associate Degree Nursing students as they complete graduation. These graduates have worked very hard and will make amazing nurses.

Today we are spotlighting Heather Holt.

Heather explains why she chose nursing, "I’ve always been drawn to roles where I can support, comfort, and make a meaningful difference in someone else’s life. I value understanding others and seeing situations from their perspective. Caring for people in their most vulnerable moments requires patience, compassion, and genuine empathy. Nursing allows me to provide nonjudgmental care to individuals from all walks of life while recognizing that every situation is unique and not always black and white."

When asked who she would like to thank, Heather said, "I’m so grateful to my friends and family for always encouraging me and reminding me of what I’m capable of. I want to thank my instructors for challenging me and believing in me, even during moments when I doubted myself. And most importantly, I’d like to thank my fiancé for his constant support, patience, and for standing by me through every high and low along the way."

After graduation, Heather will be working at UNC Health Johnston Smithfield on the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). In addition, Heather plans to pursue a BSN at UNC Wilmington while continuing to gain expereince as a new graduate nurse. She also hopes to earn additional certifications to continue to expand knowledge and strengthen skills in practice.

Congrats Heather. WCC Nursing is excited to see all you will do.

WCC Nursing is spotlighting our Associate Degree Nursing students as they complete graduation. These graduates have worked very hard and will make amazing nurses.

Today we are spotlighting Diana Malfavon Garcia.

Diana shares what inspired her to pursue nursing, "I want to become a nurse because I find purpose in helping people feel safe, understood, and cared for during their vulnerable moments. Being a first-generation student, I’m motivated by gratitude and compassion to make meaningful impacts within my community. I hope to be the nurse who brings both comfort and strength to patients when they need it most, just as I would hope someone would do so for my family."

When asked who she would like to thank, Diana explained, "I’m grateful to God, who held my hand through every step of this journey and gave me strength when I needed it most. I would also like to thank my mom for her unconditional love, support, and countless sacrifices that made it possible for me to reach this goal. I’m deeply thankful to my boyfriend, who never stopped believing in me and always encouraged me even on my hardest days. I’m thankful for the opportunity of completing this program with my best friend, Macy, who stood by me through every high and low. Thank you for all the laughs and memories we made. I would like to thank Mrs.Miranda for all the many pep talks that reminded me of my strengths when I didn’t see them in myself. Lastly, thank you to all my nursing instructors for guiding and shaping me into the nurse aspire to be."

After graduation, Diana will be working at UNC Health Wayne in the Oncology Unit. In addition, Diana will continue her education and obtain her BSN.

Congrats Diana. You will be an amazing nurse to your patients.

WCC Nursing is spotlighting our Associate Degree Nursing students as they complete graduation. These graduates have worked very hard and will make amazing nurses.

Today we are spotlighting Macy Cardona.

When asked why she chose nursing, Macy said, "I want to be able to make a difference in someone’s life. Whether that is done through a simple smile, hug, or listening ear. What better career than this one, for Gods love, compassion, and empathy to be shared."

Macy expressed her gratitude in saying, "First, I would like to thank God for walking with me every step of the way of nursing school. Second, I would like to thank him as well for blessing me with the amazing support system that motivated me everyday. Mom, thank you for making my coffee for me every morning before clinical and lectures, the simple act gave me something to look forward to every morning. Dad, thank you for all the nights you held me in your arms like a little girl when all I needed was a simple hug. Mom and dad, thank you for never pushing me to be better and successful, but rather trusted me to do so. Diana, thank you for being the shoulder I could always lean on. Thank you for all the good laughs and good eats. I can’t imagine going through nursing school without you. Mrs. Miranda, thank you for all the pep talks that have lead me to mature into the grown woman I am today. Thank you for being a safe space. To all the WCC nursing staff, thank you to every single one of you for seeing the potential in me. Thank you for being who you are, not only are every single one of y’all amazing nurses, but amazing instructors and persons."

After graduation, Macy will be working at UNC Health Wayne in the 4th Floor Oncology Unit. In addition, Macy plans to complete her BSN, then finish up her MSN and ultimately become a clinical instructor.

Macy, we are excited to see all you do for nursing.

WCC Nursing is spotlighting our Associate Degree Nursing students as they complete graduation. These graduates have worked very hard and will make amazing nurses.

Today we are spotlighting Sarahlee Morado.

Sarahlee explains why she chose nursing, "I wanted to become a nurse because I am passionate about caring for individuals in my community who may not have the same opportunities as others and advocating for their needs. I have always felt a strong desire to support others in the way I wish someone had been there for my loved ones. Providing compassionate, patient-centered care is something I am deeply committed to."

When asked who she would like to thank, Sarahlee said, "I would like to first thank God for providing me with all the resources and opportunities to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. He has helped me through some of the most challenging times in my life. And I also want to thank my mother who also had an interest in health care in her youth. She inspired me to always be compassionate with others and gave me the opportunity to do it in such an amazing country."

After graduation, Sarahlee shares her plans, "I will be working on 3rd Floor UNC Health Wayne. My long-term goal is to obtain my BSN shortly after beginning my nursing career to continue building my knowledge and skills. I am also interested in pursuing a FNP degree in the future so I can expand my scope of practice and provide more comprehensive care to my patients."

We are excited for you Sarahlee. You will make an amazing nurse.

Today we are spotlighting Anna Creech.

Anna explains why she chose nursing, "I wanted to become a nurse because I’m passionate about helping people during some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. It's so rewarding to be able to support someone and make a difference in their day. I also like that nursing is always teaching you new things and helping you grow."

When asked who she wanted to thank, Anna said, "First, I would like to thank God because I truly wouldn’t have made it this far without Him, he gave me the strength to keep going even when things felt overwhelming. I would also like to thank my family for always supporting me, encouraging me, and believing in me throughout this journey. I’m also very grateful for the nursing staff at WCC who have been there for me every step of the way, offering guidance, patience, and support as I grew into the nurse I am today."

After graduation, Anna shares her plans, "I will be working on the 3rd floor Cardiac Telemetry at UNC Health Wayne. I also plan to continue my education in the aRIBN program at ECU to earn my BSN. I’m excited to keep building my knowledge and skills as I grow in my nursing career."

WCC Nursing is spotlighting our Associate Degree Nursing students as they complete graduation. These graduates have worked very hard and will make amazing nurses.

Today we are spotlighting Sarah Anderson.

Sarah explains why she chose nursing, "Becoming a nurse started as a goal, but somewhere along the way it became a purpose. I wanted to be the person who shows up when people are scared, hurting, and need someone the most, living out the call in Matthew 10:8: “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” Nursing has challenged me in ways I never expected. It’s given me a deeper understanding of compassion, resilience, and what it means to truly care for others."

When asked who she would like to thank, Sarah said, "I want to thank my family, friends, and instructors who supported me through every long night, early morning, and moment of doubt. And to my little sister, getting to go through this journey and graduate together makes this even more special."

Sarah explains her plans after graduation, "I will begin my career at UNC Health Wayne in the Intensive Care Unit. I plan to continue my education by earning my BSN and then pursuing my doctorate at Duke University to become an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), continuing to grow in this profession."

WCC Nursing is spotlighting our Associate Degree Nursing students as they complete graduation. These graduates have worked very hard and will make amazing nurses.

Today we are spotlighting Mary Anderson.

When asked why she chose nursing, Mary said, "I wanted to become a nurse to help people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Serving others is a passion of mine and a way for me to live out my faith by caring for and loving people, just as Jesus so graciously does for us. It is especially rewarding to provide comfort and reassurance, knowing that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference."

Mary expressed gratitude in saying, "I would first like to thank God for placing this dream on my heart and giving me the strength and opportunity to pursue it. I am incredibly grateful for my family and friends, who have supported me through some of the most challenging moments of the past two years. Their encouragement, patience, and constant belief in me have made all the difference in helping me get to this point."

After graduation, Mary is working at UNC Health Wayne in the Women and Infant Center. In addition, Mary plans to continue the aRIBN program through ECU and graduate with a BSN in May 2027. Long term, Mary hopes to further her education by earning additional certifications in nursing and possibly pursuing a career as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), allowing Mary to expand her role in women’s health and provide more specialized care.

WCC Nursing is spotlighting our Associate Degree Nursing students as they complete graduation. These graduates have worked very hard and will make amazing nurses.

Today we are spotlighting Maddie Johnson.

Maddie explains why she chose nursing in saying, "I chose to become a nurse because I wanted a career that would challenge me and allow me to make an impact in peoples' lives. I have always loved taking care of others and nursing allows me to build meaningful connections with my patients while challenging me to give the best care I possibly can."

Maddie shares her gratitude, "I would like to thank my husband and family for supporting me in every possible way. I would not be here without them. I would also like to thank Mrs. Wychunas and all the amazing nurses I have worked with while in nursing school for giving me every opportunity to learn, answering all my questions and for their mentorship."

After graduation, Maddie will be working at Benefis Health System in Montana on the Progressive Cardiovascular Unit (PCVU). In addition, Maddie plans to work towards completing a BSN while getting experience in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care unit, ultimately becoming a flight nurse.

Congrats Maddie. We are very proud of your hard work.
