Billy officially completed the childcare class at WorkSource East in May, but he began his job at Playmates, Childcare Center in Pine Level, before he even graduated. For the last few weeks of his training, he was in class part time while also working!! In his role at the center, he works with 5 – 9-year-olds and he really enjoys it!

Billy says he likes teaching he gets to be a big brother figure to them. He likes to see them happy. His goal after finishing his college class is to be a lead teacher.

Billy shared that he enjoyed his time in training because all the teachers at WSE work with you and provide support. They also find activities to get your mind off things.

Congrats to Billy on completing the childcare class and on his job in Childcare!!

In the automotive class students will participate in a learning environment that provides the hands-on experience necessary to obtain employment in the automotive industry. We use a full-service automotive shop for training, including equipment and training vehicles.

The PCA course is designed to help students gain the basic knowledge and skills necessary to become a personal care aide. Students receive classroom and hands-on training in personal care skills. Class instructions include audio and visual training aids, guided class discussion, handouts, role-play, and hands-on skills training.

The Child Care program is designed to help the students acquire the basic knowledge and skills necessary for employment in the Child Care field.

Students will gain classroom experience concerning safety regulations, lesson planning, and activity preparation/implementation.

In addition to the course objectives, students will have the opportunity to participate in additional trainings such as First Aid & CPR, Basic School Aged Care, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, and other health and safety trainings.

Course objectives include general welding, blueprint reading, cutting processes, and one welding process of the students’ choice. All students will learn the minimum standards in the American Welding Society’s Guide for the Training and Qualification of Welding Personnel-Entry Level Welder. The environmental services class teaches students how to clean on a professional level. As a part of their training they participate in paid work opportunities at our facility. Hands on learning is the best way to learn and gives valuable experience to be successful on a job.
