Today our admin meet with each grade level to set high exceptions for academic, behavior and social emotional growth for the 2023-24 school year! We are leveling up in all areas. 5th grade was fortunate to have words of encouragement by our Superintendent Dr. Whichard.

Congratulations to Carey Hinnant! Mrs. Hinnant has been our instructional coach, former teacher, and administrative intern and has been promoted to Assisistant Principal at Northwest Elementary! We are proud of you and wish you much success in this new chapter!

Today is bittersweet. It’s my last week at Carver Heights but it is also a great day because I get to pass the keys to Dr. Kevin Smith, who is going to continue the greatness we have established here! I have been privileged to serve as the Principal at CHE for the past 3 years and 17 years total with Wayne County Public Schools. I have loved every minute of it. I would like to thank the community for embracing me and always supporting our school. I know you will do the same for my colleague and friend! 💚💛💚💛

As a reminder Carver Heights is on an alternative schedule and school will start back for students on August 23rd and Open House for Carver Heights will be August 21st from 5-7. Airmen Bulson and Ellingford and the Family Health Clinic from Seymour Johnson Air Force base have “adopted a patch” of our garden! Community partners are critical to the beautification of this area and we are so thankful that our community always answers the call!! 💚💛💚💛

Our Flag Patrol was treated to a pizza party given by Colonel Iman as a reward for how well they care for our flag! 💚💛💚

Our Principal’s Council had their last meeting of the year and it was a good one!

Dr. Goodson was happy to report that we accomplished two of the goals we set:

✅Paint all of the student bathrooms. Thank you Wayne County Public Schools painters!!

✅Add more self selected books to student home libraries. Thank you for facilitating the book giveaway, Mrs. Carey Hinnant!

This is a bright group of students that advocates for school improvement and leads by example!

The Carver Heights Spring Concert was a huge success! Our Eagles soared under the direction of the amazing Mr. Kevin Alston!

Parents, last week we had data dives and students analyzed their growth, set EOG goals, and received their growth rewards! We have 7 days until the EOG and it is crunch time! Remind them of the goals they set for growth and their ability to reach them. We are in this together! 💛💚💛💚💛💚

Our Eagles so enjoyed Law Day at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. They participated in a mock trial complete with deliberations and verdict! This was quite an experience for our students and we noticed some budding lawyers and judges amongst our students. Afterward, students were treated to cake and ice cream. We appreciate all the many ways our SJAFB Airmen contribute to the success of our school! 💛💚💛💚

May 8th-12th Staff Appreciation Week was just a small token of thanks to the best staff in Wayne County!
