This week, 41 Tate FFA members traveled to Orlando to attend the 98th Florida FFA State Convention & Expo. It was an exciting week spent celebrating the accomplishments of our members and chapter alongside thousands of FFA members from across the state.

Several students were recognized for their achievements throughout the week. Six seniors, Raevyn Aldridge, AT Bridgers, Maegan Coleman, Taelyn Hubbard, Miller Richards, and Madison Wise, received their State FFA Degrees. Christian Hollingsworth and Ellen Rigby were awarded the American FFA Degree, the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization.

Our chapter was also recognized as a Premier FFA Chapter and received Florida’s Finest recognition through the National Chapter Award Program.

Students were recognized on stage for their success in Career Development Events, Leadership Development Events, and Proficiency Awards.
Maegan Coleman competed as a state participant in Prepared Public Speaking.
Madison Wise placed 5th in the state in the Agriculture Education CDE.
Henry Merritt, Aden Bailey, Luke Graham, and Daniel Aldridge were crowned State Champions in the Aquaculture CDE, with Henry earning High Individual honors
Luke Graham, Parker White, Daniel Aldridge, and Henry Merritt placed 2nd in the state in Environmental Science.
William Mason, Lucas Jones, Hailey McVoy, and Isabella Towns earned a 5th place finish in the Farm and Agribusiness Management CDE.

In the Proficiency Award areas, Katie Byrd was recognized as a Top 4 Finalist in Agricultural Services, Ava Atiyeh was a Top 4 Finalist in Equine Placement, and Rieslin Colvin was named the State Winner in Veterinary Science.

Daniel Aldridge, Luke Graham, Noah Jacobs, and Henry Merritt participated as volunteers in the Courtesy Corps group by assisting with General Sessions and LDE event halls.

Our Chapter President, Luke Graham, was also voted in as the District 1 Secretary for the 2026-2027 year.

We are incredibly proud of all of our members who represented Tate FFA this year. From leadership events and proficiency awards to state degrees and championship teams, these students continue to set a high standard through their hard work, dedication, and commitment to agricultural education.

The Tate FFA Meat Science Evaluation Team competed at the State Finals in Gainesville back in April, earning an impressive 8th place finish in the state. Team members included Maegan, Madison, Parker, and Luke.

The Meat Science Evaluation CDE challenges students to apply their knowledge of the meat industry through retail cut identification, carcass evaluation, quality and yield grading, and meat industry problem solving. Students must use critical thinking and industry standards throughout the competition.

Seniors Maegan and Madison also placed in the top 25 high individuals in the state, a great accomplishment in such a competitive event.

We are proud of this team for the hard work and preparation they put into this contest and for the way they represented Tate FFA at the state level!

The 35th Annual Tate FFA Alumni Rodeo begins tonight at the Escambia County Equestrian Center. Join us for a great night of rodeo action starting at 7:30 PM.

The rodeo will take place rain or shine in a fully covered arena, ensuring both spectators and contestants remain dry while the performance continues as scheduled.

Come out, support Tate FFA, and be part of a long-standing community tradition.

The countdown is on for the 35th Annual Tate FFA Alumni Rodeo happening this Friday and Saturday at the Escambia County Equestrian Center in Beulah. Shows begin each night at 7:30 PM.

Rain or shine, the rodeo goes on!

Round up the family, call your friends, and come enjoy two nights of rodeo action while supporting Tate FFA and our students.

It’s rodeo week! Join us this Friday and Saturday, May 1st and 2nd for the 35th Annual Tate FFA Alumni Rodeo at the Escambia County Equestrian Center. Performances begin each night at 7:30 PM, but we advise getting there early to secure your parking spot!

Bring the family, grab some friends, and come enjoy two nights of rodeo action while supporting Tate FFA.

Friendly reminder, please do not bring outside food/drinks, weapons, nicotine/tobacco products, alcohol, and non-service animals. Concessions, funnel cakes, and drinks will be available for purchase (cash & card will be accepted).

Congratulations to the J.M. Tate FFA Agricultural Sales Team on an outstanding 8th place finish at the State Contest.

Team members Anthony, Bree, Constance, and Zoee showed great dedication and professionalism throughout the competition process. This year’s product focused on Blue Sky Farms, a fourth-generation Florida potato farm. Students were challenged to match potato varieties to customer needs and preferences while confidently working to close the sale.

Throughout the contest, team members demonstrated their knowledge of USDA potato grading standards, nutritional information, and the features, advantages, and benefits of their product. The competition included an individual sales call, a customer service scenario, and a team sales presentation, all designed to reflect real-world agricultural sales experiences.

We are proud of these students for their hard work and for representing Tate FFA so well at the state level. Great job, team!

Students in Technical Agricultural Operations 4 and 5 recently completed another impressive project in the Tate Ag Mechanics shop. Dyllan, Keelan, Nathan, and Evan worked together over the course of six weeks to build a double bale hay spear, designed for transporting round bales from the field to the barn.

Throughout the project, students gained valuable hands-on experience using a stick welder with 7018 electrodes, along with a plasma cutter and angle grinder. From measuring and fabrication to welding and final assembly, each step helped strengthen their skills in agricultural mechanics and teamwork.

Projects like this give students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world agricultural needs while building confidence in the shop.

Tate High School Aquaculture CDE Team Named State Champions

Tate High School is proud to announce that the Tate FFA Aquaculture Team has made history by earning 1st place at the Florida FFA State Aquaculture Career Development Event Contest. A Career Development Event (CDE) is a competitive activity that allows students to apply agricultural knowledge and skills gained through classroom instruction, laboratory experiences, and supervised agricultural experiences in real-world scenarios.

Under the leadership of FFA Advisor, Mrs. Rachel Veninga, the team of sophomores Henry Merritt, Aden Bailey, Luke Graham, and Daniel Aldridge delivered an exceptional performance in one of the most rigorous and competitive CDE events in the state. The Aquaculture CDE challenges students in areas such as aquatic species identification, water quality analysis, production systems, fish health, and real world industry problem solving.

In an extraordinary showing, all four Tate High School team members also placed among the top 10 individuals in the State of Florida:

Aden 2nd High Individual
Luke 3rd High Individual
Daniel 6th High Individual

This remarkable accomplishment reflects the students dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence, as well as the strength of Tate High School's Agricultural Education Program.
