After more than 30 years of dedicated service to students, families, and staff, Goldendale Middle School teacher Mrs. Tallman will retire at the end of the 2025-26 school year.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Tallman has made a lasting impact on students through her commitment, leadership, and care for the Goldendale community.

“Mrs. Tallman’s impact on Goldendale Middle School is impossible to fully capture in a few sentences,” said Kristin Garrett-Lummio. “For more than 30 years, she has been the definition of a master teacher — deeply committed to students, fiercely hardworking, honest, dependable, and always willing to do whatever was needed for kids and for the school as a whole. Beyond the classroom, she has been a trusted teammate, mentor, and steady presence whose knowledge and systems-thinking helped shape the culture and success of GPS and GMS for decades. Her retirement leaves an enormous hole in our building, and she will be profoundly missed by staff, students, and families alike.”

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and we’re celebrating Goldendale Middle School 8th grade teacher Rachel Hurst! 🍎 We will miss Rachel next school year as she spends quality time with her family, watches her grandson, and works on the ranch.

“Rachel has a way of connecting with middle schoolers that’s hard to put into words unless you’ve seen it. It's truly magical!” said GMS Principal Kristin Garrett-Lummio. “She sets the bar high, builds real relationships, and knows how to navigate the chaos that comes with 8th grade. Kids feel supported, challenged, and known in her classroom. She’s made a lasting impact at GMS and will be greatly missed by all.”

Meet the Superintendent Finalists!

Each evening will feature one finalist. Candidates will share a brief introduction and respond to a series of questions that reflect themes gathered from community input.

To help ensure a thoughtful, fair, and consistent process for all candidates, community members are invited to submit questions in advance by April 25. Submitted questions will be reviewed and used to develop a common set of questions asked of each finalist.

This approach allows the community to hear how each candidate responds to the same topics, while still ensuring that community voice is meaningfully reflected in the discussion.

Following each forum, community feedback will be shared with the School Board to help inform their decision.

Familes, staff, students, and community members are encouraged to attend!
