Brothers,
I hope this found you well. The last few semesters have been very difficult with us being in and out of quarantine. Despite the challenges, we have a pledge class that we are connecting with virtually and if we're lucky, with the occasional in person activity. We are also still the largest fraternity on campus!
Some of our members during quarantine created some really cool inventions, including Grant Kahl where he made a low cost $500 ventilator. Here is the link for more information on Grant’s project . Last Spring, brothers also took part in creating 3D printed face shields for first responders when they were in high demand. Here is the link or link for pictures and information on that initiative.
Recently, we've improved our living room with an 80 inch TV so brothers can enjoy the big game or fight as well as playing video games. In addition, the chapter used some funds to improve our side yard (the one closest to the IM field) by leveling the ground, improving the retaining wall, and adding a fence so that we can have a more private and outdoor hang out spot.. This project was very expensive, and we need help funding it! Please donate to the housing board fund so that we can stay in the positive.
One of our biggest achievements from last year was being awarded the Founders' Award of Chapter Experience. We really pushed ourselves and grew a lot as a brotherhood in working towards this big accomplishment. In terms of community outreach, brothers have been connecting with the blind community through an app called Be My Eyes. This app helps us reach out to the blind and help them do tasks they can’t do. It is super convenient to help and brothers have really enjoyed this community service outlet.
This year our chapter seeks to raise over 3000 dollars for our scholarship fund either through the SAJ weekend of giving where 100% of the proceeds go to our chapter’s scholarship endowment fund or through our individual Gamma Gamma scholarship fund setup by our very own Alumnus Advisor Mark Cook. I, Logan P Yeager of the Gamma Gamma chapter here at the Colorado School of Mines. I am not only the fundraising chair in charge of SAJ weekend this year, but also a past recipient of one of these scholarships. They are extremely helpful, especially in these times where money is extremely tight. So I ask you, the alumni, for any help you can give towards our scholarship funds as it continues to propel our ability to thrive in school but also pursue interests from art to music to balance out the rigor here at Mines.
We appreciate your continued support for our chapter and hope to keep in touch.
