We may be saying goodbye to April, but say hello to our members of the month, Emily and Hanna! Hanna and Emily joined SHAC in 2015 in order to get involved in health and their community. Hanna likes water because of the energy it gives her throughout the day. Emily chooses H2O because its "cheap and everywhere". If Hanna and Emily could have any superpower, it would be flight. Then, they could fly to the top of 14ers instead of climbing them. 😉 Just kidding..."the journey is everything".

Each school year, student leaders from the Jeffco Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC) create a campaign to engage their peers in messages of health. This year, SHAC brings you the “WATER: IT’S IN YOUR NATURE” Classroom Toolkit!

The Toolkit includes four fun activities for upper elementary, middle, or high schools. The first 12 teachers/staff to implement the lessons by May 12 will get some lovely water bottles for their students. Our first two SHAC Members of the Month are Shamik and Maddie!

Shamik joined SHAC because he "loves being involved in public health!” His favorite part about water is its great taste that comes without the negative health effects. If Shamik could have any super power, he would chose immortality.

Maddie says, “I am passionate about the wellbeing of our community. SHAC has allowed me to use my voice and work alongside my peers to positively impact wellness in Jeffco!” Her favorite thing about water is how it is essential to our bodies, to our society, and to our environment. If Maddie could pick a super power, she would want to time travel.
