A lifelong love of the arts has inspired retired Associated Press journalist, Jeff Baenen, to give back to the next generation. Baenen has established a $1,000 housing scholarship for a Perpich student, helping remove financial barriers for a student living on campus and pursuing their artistic dreams. “I want to do good with money I have inherited,” Baenen said. “This scholarship at Perpich is an important first step.” Read Jeff’s story of inspiration and philanthropy. https://perpich.mn.gov/jeff-baenen-creates-housing-scholarship-for-perpich-student/

More than 30 Minnesota theater educators and directors recently gathered for Backstage Center Stage, a hands-on professional development workshop exploring lighting, sound, scenic painting, projections, set construction, and more. Hosted by Perpich in partnership with Monkey Wrench Productions, the workshop gave educators practical skills, fresh ideas, and connections they can bring back to their classrooms and performance spaces.

As Perpich’s Dr. Stephanie Lein Walseth put it, the day was “a fabulously rich and productive day!”

What a great afternoon at Perpich Center!

Our 2nd Annual Book Fair brought together K–12 educators, librarians, and community members to celebrate the work of BIPOC authors and illustrators. We were honored to hear opening remarks from Sen. Mary Kunesh and a powerful keynote conversation with acclaimed author and poet Bao Phi, while attendees also explored books from independent booksellers.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the power and diversity of books, and to our wonderful speakers, booksellers, and partners who made the afternoon possible!
