Perpich Arts High School Music Department Presents: "Sound Works 1"

October 8 - 7:00 p.m.
October 9 - 3:45 p.m.

The Music Department of Perpich Arts High School is very excited to be presenting the first concert of the year. The concert will be the presentation of the work created by students in their small ensembles – both covers and original works.

Lee Christianson (Dance 2023) returned to campus to work with current Dance students alongside Heather Klopchin, director of St. Olaf College’s Dance Department, where Lee is now continuing his dance education.

From improvisation to expressive collaboration, Lee encouraged students to bring their authentic selves into the studio.

“No one can dance exactly like you, and you’ll enjoy yourself more when you’re not trying to be someone else,” Lee shared.

At Perpich Arts High School this week, students got a closer look at what comes next during Portfolio & College and Career Day!

Representatives from 20+ colleges, universities, technical and polytechnic programs, and gap-year programs came to campus to connect with students, answer questions, and offer feedback on their creative work.

From sharing portfolios to exploring new possibilities, students had the chance to imagine what their futures in the arts could be.

Why School Theatre Matters, From 3 High School Grads
The professional development that comes with participating in theater is more vast than learning how to sing and dance.
• School theater develops skills that extend far beyond the stage. Students learn to collaborate, advocate for themselves, solve problems, work under pressure, and support one another, skills that can serve them in virtually any career.
• Theater can help students discover who they are and where they want to go. The graduates describe how their experiences in school theater sparked interests in fields ranging from architecture and business to marketing and content creation.
• Perhaps most powerfully, theater gives students perspective. By stepping into the lives of characters and seeing a production from different perspectives, students develop a deeper understanding of people, choices, and the complexity of the world around them.

Theater presents "Preventing Gun Violence"
October 5, 2026
3:45 p.m. at Perpich
7:00 p.m. at Landmark Center

We invite you to a powerful experience of original theater, written and directed entirely by young people — for an audience ready to finally listen.

Listen to Children will feature four ten-minute plays, along with music, movement, and a visual art showcase, all created by students who live with the fear and reality of gun violence every day. Performances by Perpich Arts High School Theater, Dance, and Musical Theater students.

This is their lived experience, told in their own words and through their own art. We owe them our full attention. We owe them a seat at the table.

Presented by Protect Minnesota and Perpich Arts High School, with support from Applause Community Theater.

🎭 Alumni Spotlight 🎭
Brian McManamon (Theater 1993) is bringing his latest creative project, "Bad Dad", to Minneapolis this fall as part of the Flip the Script Film Festival!

Brian stars in and produced the 12-minute short, written and directed by Chisa Hutchinson. And there’s a special Perpich moment in store: Brian recorded a video introduction for the screening with a shout-out to his alma mater. ❤️
