It was a great first day at GRDC!

A lot of photos were taken and kindergarten parents were treated to a reception sponsored by our PTO.

Please don’t forget to enter SJUSD’s Back-to-School Photo Contest by posting your photo to either Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the by noon on Monday, 20th. Please check www.sanjuan.edu for more information.

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow from 8:40-3:10 and please know that all Fridays this year will be GRDC Spirit Days. Please wear your GRDC gear and/or our school colors (blue and gold).

Based on information from the 2016-2017 California Healthy Kids Survey, 38% of GRDC 7th graders have never talked to their parents about the dangers of alcohol. 15% said they believe students who drink alcohol access it in their own homes.

Congratulations to Mrs. Elder's class for raising the most money in grades K-4 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! Her kindergarten class raised almost $500.
In grades 5-8, congratulations to Mr. Knutsen's class which raised about $2,300!
The following 5th-8th grade classes also deserve recognition for their fundraising efforts:

Mr. Avilla, Mr. Hendrix- almost $500
Mrs. Manley - $400

Last week was our third and final week of the Pennies for Patients fundraising. If you have any last minute donations, please send them in this week to your child's classroom box. We are SO close to our school goal of $10,000! As of Friday, GRDC had raised $9,055.86. That's right we are just under a thousand dollars from reaching our goal.
Thank you GRDC families, students, and staff for your generous gift of time and donations!
We will announce the top fundraising classes next Monday after our final count.

February 26-March 2nd is the last week of GRDC's Pennies for Patients campaign!

So far you have helped us raise $4800 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This is great, but we are only halfway to our goal of $10,000. You can help us reach our goal by participating in the last two upcoming activity days at school.
On Tuesday, February 27th students can donate $2 to wear their pajamas to school
On Wear a Hat Wednesday - Students can donate $1 to wear their hat indoors.

Our 7th grade Community Service elective class, led by Mrs. Marks, will be out at the different "drop off" locations this week where you have another opportunity to pledge $1 or more and sign an LLS blood drop which will be displayed outside for everyone to see!
