Communities all over the state are finding creative ways to celebrate their students. This 8th grade celebration at Warm Springs K-8 Academy was a Student/Family Parade.

Teachers were on site (socially distancing), and families drove by to receive“air high-fives, congratulations, smiles, waves and applause. This was a community wide event, with law enforcement celebrating with lights and other accolades from the community.

Congratulations to all of our students! We celebrate with you!

Our focus in Oregon has shifted from attendance to engagement with students. Parents, if you or your student have not heard from your school, please be assured that your school has been trying to reach you! Schools across the state have found that highlighting and celebrating attendance are having positive impacts on their students. Schools are focusing on good attendance, improved attendance, and even perfect attendance categories. While we know life can get in the way of “showing up” at work, school, or life events, we want to celebrate when students are making great strides, because showing up is step one to learning!
