Not too long ago I told Peyton Trawick that it was heavy on my heart to get more involved here in Godley and she knew without even asking that I needed to sit down with Dr. Dear, the superintendent, and share some ideas. So when that time came I shared what I felt like the Lord was leading me to share and Dr Dear said I have the perfect place to start.

Within just a couple days of this first meeting I found myself in a sound booth late one afternoon recording a voice over with a Godley Alumni by the name of Mr. Gene Jernigan, while Peyton and Mrs Jernigan visited in the hall outside. His voice and history with our community couldn't have been a more perfect fit for this short video.

The following weeks were filled with finding and capturing the best pictures we could to bring this story to life and I'm honored to have played a roll in presenting it as a thank you to all of the teachers and staff at Godley ISD.

Godley ISD Flashback Friday: Today’s post is from the 1947 yearbook. The graduating class had 13 seniors, and GHS had 77 total students. The landscape picture shows the old one-room school houses moved in during district consolidation. The cafeteria on the left was the old Lone Cottonwood school, and the home economics building on the right was the old Bruce school house. Thanks to Ronnie McCoy for lending us this yearbook. Godley ISD Throwback Thursday: Did you know... Godley HS class of 1955 Johnny Carroll sang with Elvis Presley on April 21, 1956, in a "Battle of the stars" show. Johnny bought his first guitar at age nine, learned basic music from his mother, who played the fiddle, and taught himself the rest by listening to the radio. Johnny was widely known as a Rockabilly singer and had great success touring in Europe.

Did you know…. Fina Mae Glenn, GHS class of 1939 and class president, represented Godley in the Miss Johnson County beauty pagent, and also represented Johnson County in the Miss Texas beauty pagent.
