Always great to see hands-on learning opportunities making an impact.

The Burn ‘n’ Learn event brought together education, STEM, and the fire service to give students a firsthand look at the science behind firefighting. From thermal imaging cameras and water pressure demonstrations to fire extinguishers and rappelling concepts, the students got an experience they won’t forget.

Proud to be part of strong partnerships between Lewis & Clark Community College, ROE #40, local fire departments, educators, and community leaders who continue investing in the next generation.

The annual awards banquet at Lewis and Clark Community College is always a great reminder of the impact our students are making.

A true team effort to make an impact across the community.

Lewis and Clark Community College, Bunker Hill CUSD #8, Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) Official Site, Bunker Hill Fire Department Co #1, Edwardsville Fire Department, and the Regional Office of Education #40 came together to host a Burn N Learn: Firefighting & STEM Day.

Approximately 30 students from the Wolf Ridge Elementary gifted program participated—getting hands-on experience and a better understanding of the science behind firefighting.

Strong partnerships like this are what help us reach the next generation.

Dr. Kelly Remijan, with the Regional Office of Education #40, recently partnered with the Lewis & Clark Community College Fire Science Program to host a STEM “Burn N Learn.”

Teachers from across the region had the opportunity to see firsthand how firefighting connects to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

This is how we bridge the gap—bringing real-world application into the classroom and creating new pathways for students.
