What an awesome first week of school hanging out with these kiddos! I just know we’re going to have an amazing year of learning and fun. They even earned a certificate from our IXL program for solving 500 math questions in just a couple of days! Have a great weekend and get plenty of rest because we have a busy week next week!😊

End of the year photo dump! I apologize again for not posting and adding pictures more often to my class page. I hope this post encapsulates the year. This second year of teaching 2nd grade has been fun, exhausting, educational, and a whirlwind. I hope all of my students gained knowledge on the academic material, but also learned valuable social and life skills that will serve them well for years to come. Next year in 3rd grade, the expectations are higher, academics are harder, and peers and their influences become more and more important. I’ve impressed upon on all my students as they transition to the other side of the building that they are now “the big kids”. I hope they take this role seriously and can be the role models we all expect the 3rd and 4th graders to be. I want to thank all of you parents/family members for being supportive of my efforts throughout the year and engaged partners with me in your child’s education. Have a wonderful summer break!

Wow, I’m way behind on my December post!!! Sorry everyone, time and my energy truly get away from me this time of year. There is plenty to share with you though. We started off the month with our Live Animal Zoo event. It was a great turnout and the kiddos did a fabulous job. Then we had our school wide Deck your Desk event and you all showed up to make our classrooms a festive celebration of the holidays! Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends that helped make everything a success. We got to celebrate Mrs. Haney’s nomination for Kansas Teacher of the Year with a surprise assembly and ice cream and finished off the month with our class Christmas party! Oh what fun we have had! I hope you all have had a wonderful start to the new year and are staying warm!

Another month done! November was a good one and it’s always nice to take time and reflect on all that I am grateful for this time of year. Although the school days can be chaotic and exhausting during these holiday months, I am truly thankful for the time I get to spend with my students! We started off November with a birthday, recognized and celebrated our Veterans, prepared for and enjoyed a fabulous Thanksgiving feast, and finally completed our Live Animal Zoo reports! More pictures to come from the Live Animal Zoo event (since it was technically a December event!) I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and the students are ready for the final push to the end of this 9 week period. It’s sure to be fun and busy as always!

We celebrated a couple more birthdays this month, us teachers provided a pizza lunch for the raffle winners at the Explorer Family fun night, we worked hard in class taking tests and playing games on the Chromebooks, got to enjoy our first class reward day with stuffed animals, had a couple of Kindness Award recipients, and finished off the month with our Halloween Parade and party! Next month is sure to be just as busy and fun as this one!!!

September was a fun and busy month! We celebrated a few more birthdays. The EHS football players came over to greet the kiddos in the morning (some of them even joined us in our classroom for a brain break), the 2nd grade Goddard junior wildcats players posed for a pic, and I captured a few candid shots of the kids working hard and having fun during our school day. We’ve also been receiving letters back from the family members or friends that the students wrote to for our Personal Letter writing assignment. I love seeing their faces light up when I tell them they have mail!😉
October is sure to be a fun and busy month also!

Just a few candid shots of the beginning of our school year. We’ve celebrated a couple of students’ birthdays, been busy learning all the routines and procedures for the day, and then diving in to our curriculum. Everyone has had a great start to the year and I’m so looking forward to their growth over the next 9 months. Hope you all have an amazing Labor Day weekend filled with rest and relaxation! If I don’t see you tonight at the season kickoff for Eisenhower Tigers football, then I’ll see all you kiddos on Tuesday!😉 Go Tigers!!!🏈❤️

Thank you for a great year, parents and kiddos! As a first-year teacher, I gained invaluable experience and knowledge working with you all and I am grateful for everything, the highs and the lows. It is through challenges that we grow the most and through successes that we appreciate the most! I have had both this year and I hope your child has too. This class will always hold a special place in my heart, as they are the first in what I hope are many more classes to come. As I did my final testing/screenings at the end of this year, I was reminded of my “why” and was able to reflect on what all my students accomplished. Seeing the data, and the progress they made over these 9 months, made my teacher heart so happy! Being able to make a positive impact on children by helping them grow and develop is one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life! I’m proud of each and everyone of them and I can’t thank you all enough for the kindness and support you have given me. Future parents have a lot to live up to because I will always compare them to this first group of parents!😉
Thank you again and I hope you all have a spectacular summer!!!🏖️☀️🕶️

The month of April is down in the history books! 13 lucky days left of the school year!
We had our Annual Glow Run event followed later in the day with popsicles! Mrs. Wagner, librarian at Apollo Elementary and published author, visited us with her horses that inspire her stories, and did a read aloud. We ended the month with the much-anticipated “Live Animal Zoo”. The students worked really hard on their research, their pictures, and practicing their script from the first-person point of view (pretending they were actually that animal and talking about themselves). We had an awesome turn out of parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, and friends. Thank you all for making this such a huge success! The kids did amazing and I’m so proud of their hard work. The final 13 days of school are sure to be busy and fun-filled and I’ll try my best to capture all the moments I can!!!
