Terry Hauck’s Bookmaking by the Sea at the Magnolia Public Library
One-week sessions during July and August
Children will write, illustrate, publish and present their stories during this week long camp. Each camper will write and illustrate her/his own laminated and bound book. With the creation of each book, the author will:

- use 10 art techniques to create images that visually inspire the wirt

er's imagination
- verbally brainstorm connections to the painted images
- Participate im helping each other find his/her story
- Receive support and direction for the conventions of writing and elements of a story
- Participate in a Coffee House style reading of newly published book, Friday 3-4pm

Scheduale is9AM- 3PM daily (9-11 bookmaking, 11-1 lunch at the beach, 1-3 bookmaking)

Here are some fun stats to consider as we wrap up our final week!

Returning to full-day sessions in our eighth year at Magnolia Library, we published 35 books in three weeks. This means 945 paintings were created. We welcomed 13 new campers, while the other 22 had attended at least once before. One camper even celebrated his SIXTH year of attendance! (See pics!)

Speaking of six, this summer saw six North Shore hometowns represented, while two campers came from out-of-state. The average age was nine years old and there were 15 boys in attendance, a whopping record.
