Anchored in wisdom, rising in wonder, we believe homeschooling is richer when we do it together! Arise Homeschool Family Co-Op is a product of the desire to work together with other families in our local community to give our children the best possible education in a cooperative and supportive environment. A new space for a new year at Arise.

Yesterday we welcomed our families back for Orientation, and for the first time, we got to gather together in our new home.

This year, Arise Community Days will take place at the Boys & Girls Club of Gloucester.

This move gives us room for so much of what makes our Thursdays ours—classrooms filled with learning and creativity, space for kids to move and play, places for families to gather, eat, talk, and simply enjoy being together.

We're excited about our partnership with the Boys & Girls Club and grateful for the opportunity to make this space our own each Thursday. More than anything, we're excited about what will happen inside these walls once they're filled with our people.

Yesterday gave us our first glimpse.

Families finding their way around. Kids reconnecting after summer. New families being welcomed in. Teachers getting ready. Lots of questions, conversations, laughter, and anticipation for the year ahead.

The address may be new, but the heart of Arise is the same: families learning together, building community together, and finding ways to make an impact together.

Next stop: our Back-to-School Picnic.

And then...we begin. 🖤💛

Every community begins with a vision.

But a vision only becomes a community when people decide it's worth building together.

That's what makes Arise what it is today.

Teachers who invest their time because they believe children deserve meaningful learning experiences.

Parents who step into leadership, organize events, welcome new families, solve problems, and quietly do the work that makes every Thursday possible.

Volunteers who see a need and simply step in.

Families who don't ask, "What do I get from this?" but instead ask, "How can I help build this?"

That's the kind of culture we're cultivating.

One where everyone has something meaningful to contribute.

Because community isn't something you find. It's something you build.

And every time someone teaches a class, welcomes a new family, organizes supplies, leads an activity, or simply notices someone who needs encouragement, they're helping build Arise.

Not because they have to.

Because they believe this community is worth investing in.

That's who is building Arise.

A lot of people assume Arise exists to offer homeschool classes.

The truth is, if classes were all we wanted to offer, there are much easier ways to do that.

Arise exists because we believe community doesn't happen by accident.

It happens when people choose to show up for one another.

When families share their time, their knowledge, and their experiences.

When children grow up surrounded by adults who know their names, cheer them on, and invest in their lives.

When learning becomes something we enjoy together instead of something we accomplish alone.

That's why we gather each week.

The classes matter because they bring us together. They give us opportunities to explore, create, ask questions, and discover new interests together. But what we're really building is something much bigger than a schedule of classes.

We're building a community where families know one another, support one another, and contribute to something larger than themselves.

And we hope what we build together doesn't stay inside our community.

We hope it shapes the way our children live, the way our families serve, and the way we contribute to Gloucester for years to come.

That's why Arise exists.

This fall, our families won't just be taking classes.

We'll be telling stories, exploring the ocean, making music, experimenting with chemistry, creating art, learning life-saving skills, playing games, and having conversations that matter.

But those aren't the point.

They're simply the places where community happens.

Every Thursday, families gather to learn alongside one another, discover new interests, encourage one another, and share life together. We believe learning is richer when it's experienced in community, and community grows stronger when we learn, create, laugh, and serve together.

Our hope has never been to offer a collection of great classes.

Our hope is to cultivate a community of families who enjoy learning together and who, in turn, become a blessing to the community around them.

That's what we're building.

And we can't wait to begin another year together.

What is Arise?

People often assume Arise is about homeschooling.

Or enrichment classes.

Or education.

While those things are certainly part of what we do, they aren't the reason we exist.

Arise exists to build community.

We gather as families because we believe we were created to learn, grow, serve, and flourish together. Yes, our children take classes. They explore science, create art, tell stories, solve problems, and discover new interests. But those classes aren't the destination—they're one of the ways we cultivate something deeper.

They give us a reason to gather.

Because when families gather consistently, something beautiful begins to happen.

Children find friendships that grow year after year. Parents discover they're not carrying the weight of homeschooling alone. Gifts are shared. Burdens are carried. Meals are enjoyed together. Encouragement is freely given. Older students learn to lead, younger students find people to look up to, and every family has something meaningful to contribute.

But our vision doesn't stop with us.

We don't simply want to build a strong community within Arise. We want to become a community that blesses the one around us.

We want our children to see that learning isn't just for personal achievement—it's preparation for loving their neighbors well. We want our families to experience the joy of serving alongside one another and making a meaningful impact right here in Gloucester.

That's why we gather.

The classes matter.

The friendships matter more.

And together, we hope to become the kind of community that leaves our corner of the world better than we found it.

While it's been quiet here this summer, it certainly hasn't been quiet behind the scenes.

We've spent these months dreaming, planning, interviewing teachers, reviewing classes, rewriting systems, organizing supplies, preparing new classrooms, and imagining all that's possible for the year ahead.

Building a community like Arise doesn't happen in August. It happens in all the quiet moments long before children walk through the doors.

We can't wait to show you what we've been building.

Follow along as we share more about what this new year holds.

There is something beautiful about gathering before the school year begins.

No classes. No schedules. No rushing from room to room.

Just families sharing a meal, children making new friends, familiar faces reconnecting, and a community beginning to take shape once again.

This evening reminded us that Arise has never simply been about the classes we offer. It's about creating a place where relationships can grow, children are known, and families don't have to walk the journey alone.

As we look ahead to a new year, we're grateful for every family who came, every conversation shared, and every child who filled the space with laughter.

Here's to another year of being anchored in wisdom, rising in wonder, and building something meaningful together.

It was a good day to be an Arise member. 🥳

Our first planning meeting for the 2026–2027 year was wildly successful.

Class matrix outlined ✅
Volunteer roles filled ✅
Excitement level raised ✅

There’s something special about being surrounded by families who are willing to build together — bringing ideas, gifts, energy, and vision to the table for the sake of our kids and this community.

A huge thank you to the families who showed up ready to collaborate, dream, organize, and serve. Days like this remind us that Arise was never meant to be built by one person. It’s shaped by families who are willing to contribute and create something meaningful together.

And truly — thank you to our county for spaces like Woodville Park. It was the perfect setup for a beautiful day of planning, conversation, and community.

This next year at Arise will be one to remember. 💛
