Mayfair Nursery School, located at 51 Glenridge Road in Glenville, offers ongoing enrollment for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds. Our play-based program includes options that will ease the transition to full-day kindergarten: a 3-day afternoon or morning classes, and an optional 2-day enrichment program which can supplement Mayfair’s 3-day class or a 3-day class at another school. ldren’s creativity and imagination while building social skills, pre-writing, pre-reading, and early math skills through play and other developmentally appropriate experiences. Mayfair provides children a gentle bridge between home and elementary school by having parents help in the classroom. Our 100’x100’ lot includes a fenced-in play area containing a sandbox, swings, climbers, playhouse, and other outdoor equipment, as well as a large open area for games, activities, or just plain running around. A convenient parking area is located in front of the building.

Spotlight on spring and all the wonder if brings 🌻🌞🐣🦋

Spring has sprung at Mayfair! 🌸☀️🌈

We have baby chicks and butterflies in our classroom! 🐣🦋

We have been busy celebrating spring in lots of different ways.

🐥🐣 We had chicken eggs in our incubator for 21 days. While we waited our baby chicks to hatch, we learned about how the chicks form and grow in their eggs. After lots of waiting our eggs hatched and it has been so exciting. Everyone has had a chance to hold a chick!

🐛🍃🦋 We also had a chance watch caterpillars transform into beautiful butterflies! We spent lots of time talking about the life cycle of caterpillars and butterflies. We started out with tiny caterpillars, watched them grow larger, form chrysalises and then transform into beautiful butterflies! We will release our butterflies together this week.

🌺💕🖍️ We also were busy preparing for Mother’s Day! We planted flowers, made cards and even each completed a ‘Mom survey’.

It has been a BUSY and FUN few weeks at school!

Nutrition and Grocery Store week with our 4 year old classes 👩‍🍳🍎🫐🍕🍭🥛

We had a grocery store set up in our dramatic play area. We had empty food containers, money, shopping carts and cash registers set up and it felt like a real grocery store! It was fun to use shopping carts to collect groceries. It was also fun having a turn to be the cashier and use the scanner and registers!

We talked about “every day and sometimes foods” and had a chance to categorize food into 5 different food groups.

Each child created a page for a class book that shared their favorite food. After the book was put together, we used our rhyming skills to guess each other’s favorite food.

Thank you to Pizza Works Burnt Hills for another fun field trip. After watching some pizza dough tricks, everyone got to make (and eat 🤤) a personal pizza.

Nursery Rhymes and Fairytale weeks are always so much fun!!

✨✨Some of our favorite nursery rhymes included Humpty Dumpty and Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater. We watched eggs fall off a wall onto different types of material and made predictions about if the eggs would crack!!! 🥚

✨✨Fairytales are some of our favorite stories. We learned that fairytales involve lots of make believe like magic beans and talking animals. Some of our favorites this week were Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs and Three Billy Goats Gruff. We designed castles and counted the shapes on each. We also created trolls and predicted what the troll would do next. 🐐🐷🐺🫘🌱

🎤🎟️Reenacting the fairytales with our puppets and bridge was another fun part of our week. We ended the week with a fun puppet show by Ms. Chris.

🐣🌡️Our chicken eggs have been delivered and are set up in the incubator. We are so excited!
