Jim Lawson one of the original TMNT illustrators has generously donated an original piece which we will be auctioning for the Abraham Wing school's playground fund. Tom Myott Gallery and Saunders Gallery of Fine Art • Bjsartworks Framing Gallery Studio will be donating the framing. Abe Wing friends, we’re so excited to share there will be a raffle fundraiser for the playground at The Shirt Factory this Thursday night.

I was talking with a couple of our vendors a few weeks ago and it turns out they are teachers at the Abraham Wing school just a few blocks away from us. When I told them I would like to help the school out if they had any needs as they are our neighbor it came up that they have been raising money for new playground equipment for the last 8 years. We will be doing raffle baskets this week at the 2021 Thursday Market & Food Truck Corral near the Reptile Adventure tent on Curran Lane for tickets to area venues to help raise money for this cause, details on what we are raffling to follow in a separate post. Abraham Wing Friends, asking for help is an uncomfortable place for me, but here I am! Under COVID guidelines each supply touched by a student needs to be sanitized before it can be used by another. You should have seen how many five gallon buckets of water I dragged around last year. 🙂 With students (hopefully) coming back to the art room this year it's becoming necessary for each student to have their own set of the basics in their own pencil box (these will be purchased separately) so there's enough for everyone to use safely. We'll still use the fun 'extras' (long live the paint!) you don't see here plenty- but these can be planned for a certain number of groups a day so that they can be cleaned accordingly.
If you do feel inclined to help - the code LIFTOFF will allow each donation to be doubled (up to $50) for the next seven days.
I SO wish this were asking for some giant amazing project that would wow you- but for now I need help making sure everyone has what they need to get started, as my budget can't carry this load!

Kindergarten had a great day planting a rainbow today! Last week we read Planting a Rainbow, then drew and painted our own rainbow order flowers. Today we celebrated Earth Day (a day late) with our own planted rainbow. 🌈 🌍 ❤️

First grade mixed their own primary colors to paint rainbows today. 🌈

Kindergarten had fun drawing under their desks like Michelangelo.

Sixth grade is doing really well with cross stitch!

On a nicer day- first grade earned free time outside to enjoy the sunshine. ☀️

Monday and Tuesday were fantastic for our Abe Wing artists. Second grade classes were treated to a live chat session with one of my best friends to discuss Diwali, and Kindergarten earned enough paint splats to have a fun art day- and we added some bonus time in the playground because the weather was perfect. ☀️ 🎨
