Position Overview: The Assistant Teacher is a support to the lead Teacher in the classroom. The position requires assisting with planning classroom activities and maintaining documentation. It is expected that the Assistant Teacher work with small groups of children and take over for the teacher on a short-term basis if needed.
Assists the teacher in daily operation of classroom
Is responsible for maintaining classroom routines and activities in absence of Teacher
Assists teacher in maintaining child and family information systems through designated technology programs
Uses authentic assessment techniques, including anecdotal notes, to plan for individual children
Is responsible for all recordkeeping, including attendance, meal counts, and other documentation as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: 17.61 per hour with CDA or Associate Degree

Overview/Responsibilities:
Promoting parent child relationships and family well-being
Partners with classroom staff to support and engage families.
Respect and respond professionally and appropriately to the families we serve
Attends all staff meetings and training sessions, maintaining the mandated number of required training hours and uses provided information and resources
Supports families’ safety, health, financial stability, life goals and aspirations
Offers, and encourages, every family to partner in a goal setting process, which includes identifying family strengths and resources
Completes recruitment activities as directed by the Family Services Coordinator
Works with staff to ensure parent participation and family engagement in all aspects of the program. Ensures that parents receive newsletters and informational fliers.
Makes referrals as necessary, supports families in accessing community resources, follows up on any referrals made, and completes documentation through designated technology programs
Supports families by acting as an advocate in the community and within the program.
Establishes working relationships with local health providers, dental providers and community partners
Is responsible for participating in Case Management on an ongoing basis, when needed on all assigned families and completing/documenting all follow up.
Facilitates parent involvement in Policy Council, Parent Group Meetings, parent education and social activities that support parent’s strengths, interests and needs
Promote and support the program’s School Readiness goals and the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) goals
Responsible for meeting with teachers on a weekly basis, to ensure ongoing communication about families and children
Responsible for educating and assisting families to ensure children are up to date, or in the process of receiving all necessary health services, and appropriate documentation is received in a timely manner.
Communicates respectfully and effectively with both parents/guardians and classroom staff regarding child or family concerns
Maintains the position and attitude of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program in all communications with families and other community agencies
Communicates respectfully and effectively with all families, children and staff and promotes teamwork.
This is a 12 Month Position with paid vacations, use of a company car for visits, paid snow days, and free ongoing professional development.

WE WILL BE OPEN ON MONDAY!!! I just spoke to someone and everything on the federal side has been awarded and is at the bank to transfer into the Payment Management System!!! The entire agency will be open on Monday to all staff and all children! Now we can all breath and enjoy our weekend! See you Monday!
Good afternoon everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We have not received our funds yet. I will continue to check and keep you posted. I am calling Health and Human Services today. They are the agency that releases our funds. Hopefully they can speed things up. For SUNY Adirondack staff and students: if we do not receive our funds, there is a possibility that SUNY will cover the costs of the Child Care Center so that we can open on Monday. I have been in contact with them as well. I will keep you all posted and stay warm today!
We have great news! Our grant application has been approved! We are now waiting for the release of our funds! One step closer! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We will keep you posted on the release of our funds!
Warren County Head Start has heard from the National Head Start Association that grant applications have started to get approved. Cross your fingers that they approve ours soon! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
