The mission of Glenn Heights Academy is to provide each student with a solid foundation that will assist in placing them on a clear path for their future. This will propel them to meet and exceed their secondary and post-secondary educational goals.
The vision of the Glenn Heights Academy is to ensure each student is academically and socially equipped to become productive citizens that can function in a global technology-geared society within a career field of their choice.
Additionally, the Academy will execute a technology-geared curriculum that will stimulate the youths learning capabilities to provide rigor and relevancy to the educational needs of students so that they can function in a global society. A blending of technology and STEM-related, hands-on activities will help ensure that youth remain engaged in their daily coursework and can excel in their studies. In order to address the youth’s social and emotional growth, the Glenn Heights Academy will offer extracurricular activities and programs that are geared to teaching youth new skills and how to interact with their peers in social settings.
One of the many benefits of the Academy will be the Parent Center, which will be built adjacent to the campus. The Parent Center will house both a Texas Workforce Center (TWC) and Communities in School satellite office. Through the Parent Center, parents and community members will have the opportunity access TWC services, which include:
• Search for jobs at WorkInTexas.com;
• Apply for unemployment benefits and request payment;
• Learn about unemployment benefits and appeals;
• View unemployment news;
• Claim unpaid wages; and
• Explore training opportunities.
In addition, Communities in Schools will provide site coordinators that will assess students’ needs and collaborate with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers, and volunteers to provide food, school supplies, health care, counseling, academic assistance, or a positive role model. The site coordinators will instruct family members on strategies that can be used at home to improve students’ academics.
With the proposed location at 1800 S. Hampton Road, Glenn Heights Academy will be centrally located providing an easier daily commute for most community members/parents. Both students and parents will not have to travel long distances to receive an exceptional education.
