One of the biggest impacts the center has had on me is helping me recognize my self-worth and value. Before joining the center, I didn’t fully accept myself or believe in my potential. I didn’t think I was smart enough for college or capable of being great on my own.

But having Black men at the center consistently show up, mentor me, and call me into my identity and worth as a man of color changed everything. My 4.0 GPA and academic success are direct results of the relationships that supported me, even when I didn’t know how to show up for myself.

The CRM-BMST is more than a community, but a family.

The Scholar Fellows program has been one of the best things in my life because it is helping me achieve my dream of becoming a teacher.

The other scholars and mentors help me to manage the pressures simultaneously of being in school, having to work, and taking care of my family.

The Scholar Fellows Program has had a powerful impact on me. It connected me with like-minded peers who share my passion for education and gave me a sense of belonging that I didn’t have before.

While I’ve always had strong role models like my father, the program introduced me to a larger network of peers and mentors who support my goals and encourage my growth as a future educator.
