🎨 PROCESS ART: Focusing on the Experience, Not the End Product! 🎃

Have you ever noticed how children can use the exact same materials but create completely different artwork?

That’s the beauty of process art! 🍂

At Circle Time Glendora, we believe art should be about exploration, experimentation, and discovery—not simply following directions to make something that looks like the teacher’s example.

When children are given the freedom to create, they are developing important skills:

🎨 Critical Thinking: What happens if I mix these colors or try a different technique?

🧠 Problem-Solving: How can I make my idea work?

✋ Fine Motor Development: Tearing, squeezing, gluing, and manipulating different materials strengthen little hands.

✨ Creativity & Independence: Children learn to trust their own ideas and make decisions without constantly seeking adult approval.

💛 Confidence: There is no single “right way” for their artwork to look.

Our pumpkin creations may look different, and that’s exactly the point!

The learning happens in the process, not in how perfectly the finished artwork turns out.

Learning begins with observing. 🤍

One of the most common concerns we hear from parents in our Parent & Me Pod is: “My child won’t sit for circle time,” “They’re not participating,” or “They cried today.”

And our answer is: that’s okay.

For toddlers, participation doesn’t always look like sitting quietly, following every direction, or completing an activity from beginning to end. Sometimes participation looks like watching from Mom’s lap, holding a material for a few seconds, wandering away and coming back, or simply observing what the other children are doing.

At Circle Time, we don’t force participation. We model, invite, encourage, and give children time.

With consistent exposure and a safe, predictable routine, children begin to understand what happens next. They watch their teachers and peers, become more comfortable in the environment, and gradually start joining in on their own.

Activities like our dot sticker work also build important early-learning skills: fine-motor control, hand-eye coordination, visual attention, matching, and following simple directions - all through play and exploration.

So if your little one spends their first few classes mostly watching, staying close to you, or even crying, don’t worry. Observation is part of learning, too. 🌱

Our goal isn’t perfect participation. It’s helping children feel safe enough to participate when they’re ready.

When your child says, “This is boring!” 🍎

It can be tempting to immediately switch activities or find something more exciting. But “I’m bored” doesn’t always mean the activity has no value.

Sometimes it means:
• This takes effort.
• I don’t know how to start.
• I’d rather do something more stimulating.
• This isn’t instantly entertaining me.

Instead of rushing to replace the activity, try saying:

“You don’t have to love every activity. Let’s give it a try for a few minutes.”

Simple activities like tearing paper, gluing, sorting, threading and placing small objects may not look flashy, but they’re building fine-motor strength, concentration, hand-eye coordination, persistence and independence.

And it’s okay for childhood to include moments that aren’t constantly exciting. ❤️

Sometimes a little boredom gives children the space to slow down, stick with something, and discover that they actually can do it.

A Little Reminder About Our Make-Up Policy 💛

At Circle Time Glendora, our classes are intentionally small, with limited spots available. Because of this, every reserved spot matters.

We completely understand that little ones get sick and unexpected things come up! When you give us at least 24 hours’ notice, we have the opportunity to offer your child’s spot to another family or someone on our waitlist.

Our Make-Up Policy:

* Make-ups are a benefit for currently enrolled monthly students only
* At least 24 hours’ notice is required
* Up to 2 make-ups per month
* Make-ups must be used within 30 days
* Your child must remain actively enrolled to use a make-up
* Same-day cancellations and no-shows are not eligible for a make-up
* Single/drop-in classes are not eligible for make-ups

If your child is sick, we absolutely appreciate you keeping them home to help protect our little community. 💛 However, we’re unable to replace a reserved class when we receive a last-minute cancellation.

These policies allow us to maintain our small class sizes, consistently staff our classrooms, and keep our program sustainable for our families and teachers.

Sometimes the best way to help a child is to wait. 🤍

It can be so tempting to step in when we see little hands struggling — opening something, completing an activity, cleaning up, putting on a backpack, or figuring out what comes next.

At Circle Time, we try to give children a little extra time before helping.

That small pause gives them the opportunity to problem-solve, practice persistence, and experience one of the best feelings:

“I did it myself!” ✨

Independence doesn’t happen all at once. It grows through lots of little everyday moments where children are trusted to try.

And we’re right there when they truly need us. 🤍

Independence doesn’t start when a parent leaves the room. 🤍

It starts much earlier - in small, everyday moments.

At Circle Time Glendora, we build independence by giving children opportunities to:

• choose an activity on their own
• carry and put away their materials
• follow simple classroom routines
• ask a teacher for help
• wait for a turn
• clean up after themselves
• move from one activity to the next
• feel comfortable with trusted adults besides their parent

These little moments may not look like much - but together, they build something BIG:

“I know what to do.”
“I can try.”
“I can ask for help.”
“I can do this without Mom or Dad right beside me.”

That’s why we don’t rush separation.

For some children, independence grows while a parent is still nearby. Then one day, they’re ready to walk into class on their own.

And that confidence belongs to them. 🤍

🌸 Exploring Spring: Plants, Parts & Pollinators 🌸

Our Preschool Pod & Kinder Prep students engaged in a hands-on exploration of flowers today, using real materials to create art through stamping 🌸

Activities like these are intentionally designed to support fine motor development, sensory exploration, and early scientific observation. By working with real flowers, children experience texture, structure, and patterns in a meaningful, memorable way.

In our small group environment, each child receives individualized guidance and the space to explore at their own pace - building confidence, focus, and independence. This approach not only strengthens foundational skills but also fosters a genuine love of learning.

We are grateful to our families who value hands-on, experiential learning and see the impact it has on their children’s growth every day 💛
