Thank you to Glendora Together for organizing this wonderful event! Citrus College librarians Sarah and Larry enjoyed the keynote from City Librarian of Los Angeles, John F. Szabo and all of the panelists discussing Third Spaces in the City Of Glendora We look forward to more opportunity to let our surrounding communities that our library is open to all, students and non-students. Stop by for a visit!

A third space is a social environment separate from home (first place) and work (second place), where individuals can gather, interact, and build community. Examples include cafes, parks, and libraries, which foster informal social interactions and a sense of belonging.

July is Disability Pride Month
Honoring the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community.

Why July? It marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, landmark legislation that broke down barriers to inclusion in society in 1990.

This 2021 Disability Pride flag was created by Ann Magill.

The parallel stripes joined together are a visual representation of intra-communal solidarity amongst disabled people.

The black background mourns disabled people who have died due to negligence, su***de, rebellion, illness and eugenics.
Each stripe color represents the various categories of disability:

β€’ Red - Physical disabilities.
β€’ Gold/Yellow - Cognitive and intellectual disabilities.
β€’ White - Non visible and undiagnosed disabilities.
β€’ Blue - Psychiatric disabilities.
β€’ Green - Sensory disabilities.
