All About PTK
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) has received official recognition by the American Association of Community Colleges as the only official honor society for 2-year colleges. Since its founding in 1918, there have been 3 million members inducted. Every year, 131,000 scholars are inducted. The four hallmarks that are highly valued within PTK are leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and service. T

he leadership in PTK provides resources for academics and career. Members are recognized for their achievements, which can help them stand out in resumes, transcripts, and applications. In addition, leadership is a critical skill and can definitely help prepare students for future scenarios. To enhance their experience as a leader, PTK members can serve as officers and lead our chapter. PTK has over $37 million in scholarships available. On average, PTK students earn $2,700 in transfer scholarships. A member can apply twice a year, in the Spring and Fall. The scholarships are inclusive, meaning they are not reserved for transfers, and can be used throughout the member’s academic journey including higher education. As PTK memberships are for a lifetime, the scholarship opportunities will also be available throughout a member’s life. The fellowship in PTK is built by ambitious, smart, and motivated individuals. At our chapter you can build friendships with like-minded individuals, work with productive teams, and socialize with others. It is possible to make lifetime friendships that remain positive, supportive, and cherishable. PTK offers many community service opportunities. We are committed to helping others on and off-campus. Specifically, we work on the College Project, in which our chapter works with the college administration to improve our campus. These service hours may help members fulfill any volunteer hours needed. We offer two types of memberships provisional and officiated. As a provisional member, you can participate in our research, community service, networking, events, fundraisers, and project. Essentially, you are able to be one of us without the fee. As an officiated member, you will have to pay an $85 fee and have a 3.5 GPA. However, this is a lifetime membership. You will gain special recognition at graduation, such as regalia. You will also receive exclusive member discounts, resources, and tools. You will also have access to the exclusive scholarship opportunities provided by PTK throughout your education. We understand that individuals have their personal commitments, so full-time status is not required in our chapter. However, we would love for you to participate and be a part of our chapter.
