The latest book by Eduardo Pagán, endowed professor of history at ASU’s West Valley campus, explores the hidden world of narcotics, addiction and survival in territorial Arizona. Through years of research, Pagán challenges romanticized views of the Old West and reveals how many of the issues we face today have deeper historical roots than we might think.

When seizures aren’t epilepsy: Understanding a misdiagnosed condition
Nicole Roberts, associate professor in ASU's School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, is studying non-epileptic seizures that can occur in people as a stress response. Her research is helping shed light on this often misunderstood condition through exploring the connections between stress, emotion and brain function.

This week, a new cohort of rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors is stepping into the worlds of medicine and law through our Future Doctors Institute and Future Lawyers Institute. Throughout the week, students will build skills, connect with professionals and explore what it takes to pursue careers that make a difference.

Campers at ASU West Valley Law Institute stepped into the role of attorneys, preparing and arguing cases from opposing counsel's perspectives after a week of hearing from legal professionals at Rafi Law, exploring careers in the legal field, and attending closing arguments at the Superior Court.
Meanwhile, campers in the Forensic Science Institute put their investigative skills to the test at the Glendale Crime Lab after learning about fingerprinting, entomology, witness questioning, and skeletal and trauma analysis.

🏅 From athlete to leader in sport psychology, ASU graduate Jake Land is turning passion into purpose.
As part of the inaugural cohort of ASU New College’s sports psychology master’s program, Land transformed hands-on experience, resilience and mentorship into a leadership role at the Arizona Center for Neurofeedback, where he will serve as director of sports psychology and assistant manager.
