Our staff vs. 6th grade students kickball game today was so much fun! It was avery close game. The Sunset staff barely won with a a score of 6-5. Great game 6th graders!!

We had a wonderful STEAM Night last Thursday! Thank you to the Arizona Science Center, Peter Piper Pizza and our volunteers from Haven Church; you helped make our event a success! Thank you to our Sunset families for coming to our event. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

On Friday during our spirit assembly, we recognized our employees of the month, Heidi Duran (4th grade teacher) and Tammy Nilsen (crossing guard and one on one assistant) along with our students of the month. These staff and students went above and beyond during the month of March, and are celebrated for their achievements!

On Fridays we recognize one student from each grade level with our random ✨Golden Ticket✨ drawing. Students can earn a golden ticket for modeling classroom and school expectations! They get their name called on announcements, a certificate, and a prize of their choice. Congratulations to these Stallions! 💛💙

We are so happy to have two water bottle refill stations on campus! These stations provide filtered water to keep our students hydrated all day long, especially in this Arizona heat. If you send your student to school with a refillable water bottle, please write their name on it so we can return it if it gets lost!

Introducing our new Principal, Aimee Wojciechowski! Aimee is so excited to meet you at Meet the Teacher night on Thursday August 3rd from 4:00-5:30. She will be "out and about" campus so stop her and say hi when you see her!

We start our final week of new 2023-2024 administrator introductions with a feature of Aimee Wojciechowski, new principal at Sunset Elementary. Aimee possesses her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. With over nine years of experience in education, Aimee began her career with the WESD as an instructional coach at Sahuaro Elementary School where she led the PBIS team in rebranding school-wide expectations. She most recently served as the assistant principal at Manzanita Elementary School. Welcome, Aimee!

We are looking for music teachers to join our for the 2023-2024 school year! With three district coaches to provide support and monthly content specific professional development, the WESD is a great place to teach music! We are also hiring art and P.E. teachers! The WESD offers an instructional coach at every site, leadership opportunities, a three-year teacher mentorship program with yearly stipends and a new starting salary for first-year teachers of $51,610, including performance pay and a mentorship program*.

Attention, ! This is a friendly reminder that our summer hours begin next week.

All school offices will be closed beginning Wednesday, June 7, and will reopen on Thursday, July 20, at 7:30 a.m. The WESD Administrative Center will be closed on Fridays through July 14. Business hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. However, the week of July 3 is the one exception as we will only be open from Wednesday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. due to the Independence Day holiday on Tuesday, July 4. Regular business hours will resume at the WESD Administrative Center on Monday, July 17.
