red push pistache tree to the Independence Garden Club's campus beautification and garden project. We're so excited to watch it grow and provide a space for students to sit in its shade and enjoy the garden. We're very grateful for your help!

Our amazing dance director Alexandra Montoya had the honor of being present and honoring some of her senior dancers in her wonderful Performance Dance class, they were inducted to the National Honors Society for Dance Arts! The National Honor Society of Dance Arts was established to promote and honor outstanding dance achievement at the high school level and to encourage well-rounded dance artists to become leaders in their communities after high school graduation.

The Independence family is very proud of our very own nurse Mary Freeland! She received the "Paul Harris Fellow" this week from the Rotary of Sun City for her involvement with the club for many years. She assisted with the interact club at Washington High School for many years and did an amazing job, when she came to Indy she brought those amazing talents and did the same for our Patriot family. Way to go Nurse Mary!

Patriot family we have exciting news about our amazing Boys Volleyball Team!
Boys Volleyball traveled to Tucson last Tuesday night in a play in game. They beat Flowing Wells to move on to the first round of state. On Friday night they were seeded against the number one team in the state Cienega and lost in three. The Patriots played outstanding and ended their 2nd season as a varsity team with a bang.

Quite a few great news to bring to the Patriot family this morning to wrap up April!
In partnership with the Governor’s Office of Education and our community partners, the Arizona FAFSA Challenge awarded Independence High School with the Most Improved FAFSA Completion Rate award for the 2021-2022 school year. Our school has accomplished an incredible feat by increasing your FAFSA completion rate by 18% when compared to last school year, leading the state in its large enrollment category.
A personalized trophy celebrating this great accomplishment will be given to Independence along with (3) brand new laptops to award to three current graduating seniors who have completed the FAFSA.
Congratulations to the Independence High School team and to your graduating class of 2022 on this remarkable achievement!

Five DECA members went to Atlanta from Friday to yesterday to represent Independence at the DECA International Career Development Conference. Here's what they brought back:
Seniors Jenny Nguyen and Gabriel Vega were Top 10% in their team event (200 total teams from around the globe), Marketing Management Team Decision Making; they earned a medal.
Sophomore Gabriel Ruiz Hernandez competed in Principles of Finance, qualifying by placing 6th in Arizona. He gained experience that he plans to put to work to earn a trip to ICDC for the next two years.
Juniors Nathan Miranda and Caitlyn (Brooke) DeVaney accepted our Chapter's Gold Certification award for The Patriot Hut. They also made a pitch about Human Resources in front of industry professionals. Great job guys!!!
