Perinatal Advisory Council: Leadership, Advocacy and Consultation

Juneteenth is a powerful celebration of freedom and is also an important reminder of the work that needs to be done to ensure perinatal equity for all. We at PACLAC believe that every birthing person contemplating pregnancy deserves the right to quality prenatal care, a safe pregnancy and healthy birth. We champion the rights of expectant parents through postpartum care to strongly advocate for systemic change at hospitals, clinics, public health, and community-based organizations – local, county, state, and national by working together and not in silos.

The National theme of Juneteenth 2026 is “Bringing Balance to America’s Celebration of Freedom.” In relation to perinatal care this means recognizing and supporting bodily autonomy, informed consent, and the fundamental right for a pregnant person to make her own choices about the pregnancy, labor & delivery, and postpartum care without coercion or discrimination.
