Some dynamic tricks in foot lock 💥. In your own practice, do you prefer dynamic moves like spins and drops or gentle moves like shapes and sequencing?

It’s my birthday and I’ll be angsty if I want too 😝 🎂 Revisiting this fun Florida Belay sequence and adding a few new elements - have you tried this one?

Want to get that fast vertical spin without the wobble wobbles? Try a few of these tips:

1. When starting your spin, be sure you’re centered and not swaying on your point.
2. Pull down. If you’re passively hanging when you bring your legs together you will be thrown off your center. Pulling down is your grounding point.
3. Lower and position your body so the top of the head and hips are in a vertical line. This is where you check in if your ribs are flaring out or if you are over arching your back. Make as many small adjustments in your core as you need to feel centered.
4. Reach through your legs and don’t lose your core alignment when you bring the legs together. The legs should be a continuation of your core position. If you wobble as soon as you bring your legs together it could be because your core was not in alignment or you weren’t keeping the core tight enough. Focus on aligning your core from hip to shoulders first. Legs are a continuation and come together directly under your center line after.
5. Keep your head neutral. Tucking the chin or putting your head back can potentially throw off your center.
6. Start with a slower spin, then add more spin once you build your body awareness and can FEEL when you are centered.

These are not easy. They take lots of body awareness, core strength and practice. The payoff is worth it though.

Enjoy the ride!

Ok let’s be honest… How strong is your single ankle hang from 1-10?? I’d rate my right ankle hang a 9 and my left ankle hang a 5 😂

This is such a fun sequence but not sensible to learn from a standard single ankle hang until you have the strength to sustain a strong flexed foot. Besides just adding long ankle hang holds to your conditioning list to help strengthen your flex, you may greatly benefit from resistance band exercises (added a link to some good ones in our stories).

Lets do all we can to prevent the sickled foot, single ankle hang debacle 🙃

A twisty hand-switching drop from the archives. It’s an awkward one to walk down when learning but fun once you feel comfortable to throw some momentum into it. Who here has tried it? 👇

Revisiting this fun Jet Pack sequence 🚀 I know it has a lot of names, what do you call this one? ⬇️

A fun spin from foot lock that creates big loops around you. The higher you can reach up and pull up the bigger the loops! It was never given a name though. What would you call this one? Let us know your ideas below!👇
