Spotlight on the 8th Grade Class of 2026!

Over the next few weeks, we will be shining the spotlight on the outstanding young men and young women from our 8th Grade Class of 2026!

Today, we continue with Eli Moore!

Eli will be attending Archbishop Moeller High School after a fantastic educational journey at Bethany.

From his 8th Grade Speech:

Leaving a mark on Bethany

My name is Eli Moore, and I wanna start this speech thanking my Mom. My Mom had to drop a lot of things for me. She sacrificed so much for me. She is an inspiration. She taught me how to be a gentleman when a man couldn't. You're my biggest fan no matter what you got me to my game even when we got in a car crash and your back was hurting. So I wanna say Mom I love you thank you for everything you've done showing me what a strong, independent, woman looks like. You're the real MVP.

The first day I went to this school I felt nervous but that shutdown real quick. I met new people and made friends quickly. The year ended early due to Covid but I still have very great memories.

This school has taught and helped me a lot. I couldn’t thank my teachers enough. They've been here every step of the way dealing with my craziness. My Mom had to deal with me at home and they did for 8 hours every day. I wanna thank Mrs. Huff for being with me the longest dealing with me. If it was from dealing with my emotions, almost wetting myself on a bus or sneaking in pocket hot dogs she was always there and ready. I wanna thank Ms. Achor for having to deal with our math group. I wanna thank Mrs. Pruitt for knowing my story and what my mom had to go through and always giving me love and help, Mrs. Casperson for seeing, hearing, watching what goes on everyday. I wanna thank Mrs. Israel for helping me with work no matter the class.

Señora Schlabach for managing us in your class, and always leaving me with a smile. I can't forget about Nurse Lands and her healing powers everytime I needed her. I really couldn’t appreciate these amazing women enough. I don't know what I could've done without them. I also appreciate the men around like Mr. Paul, Mr. Dallas, and the maintenance crew always popping in and leaving us with a motivational quote. I love you guys I am going to miss you next year.

To my classmates, I love you guys so much and I'm proud to be graduating with you. Being at a school like this makes it easier to make friends and I learned so much from you guys. It's a bitter sweet feeling that we're going to high school as I won't be with a lot of you again. I remember having the recess superbowl at the end of the year or the most competitive game of kickball while Mrs. Brunsman is reffing us.

I've had some of my favorite laughs with these guys and it's sad knowing this chapter is coming to an end. Congratulations to the Class of 2030 as we move on to a new chapter, to the parents for everything they've done for the teachers for not having to stress about us. I will be attending Archbishop Moeller High School embarking on my journey to become a Man of Moeller.

As I'm coming to an end I want to end with a quote and verse. Mark 5:36 "Don't be afraid; just believe.” But the quote I want to end off with is “We have to let go of who we were yesterday, because it’s selfish to who we want to be tomorrow.” Thank you for listening to my speech.

Today, Bethany School was proud to join the Sisters, Associates, Oblates, and friends of the Community of the Transfiguration in the Feast of the Transfiguration-a celebration of the transformation Jesus revealed in Matthew 17:1:

"After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured before them."

We were all blessed to have Bishop White of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio serve as Celebrant.

Today, we continue with Tristan Conway!

Tristan will be attending The Summit Country Day School after a fantastic educational journey at Bethany.

From his 8th Grade Speech:

“Intelligence plus character–that is the goal of true education.” — Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

It all started with me, Tristan Conway, taking two steps on the Bethany campus, 9 years ago, smiling with the sun shining on my face. My whole Bethany experience has been truly eye-opening, and I will never forget it. I remember myself being so excited, and could not wait to see my classroom, teacher, and desk with my name tag on it. As I walked to line up with my classmates, Nyele Zachery saw me and was the first person to say, “Hi!” I knew we would stay friends. Even today, we are still close. Ms. Brooksbank was my very first teacher here, and introduced me to using dot markers to create a rainbow, walking me to my 1st Grade classroom with Mrs. Tedesco, and letting me know it wasn’t a goodbye, it was a see you later. She is and was one of many teachers that have been very influential to me.

If it was not for Bethany, I would not have gotten this far. Many people, events, and growth I have developed that have impacted my life and I are Mammoth Cave, iSPACE, Gorman Heritage Farm, the Toyota Assembly Plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, Camp Joy, and El Asadero. Those field trips have given me curiosity and information on many great factors, exposing me to new and exciting things. I thank all of my teachers who planned the field trips. You didn’t have to, but you did for us. The people that have paved my path to this day are all of my teachers from Kindergarten to 8th Grade. I could not thank them enough, especially with the help of God, my friends, family, and staff.

Above anything and everything, the person who did the most for me and still does is my mom, Joey Styles. She has and still is sacrificing, caring, helping, nursing, therapizing, and loving me since May 16, 2012. I absolutely love her until the day that I die. Thank you so much Mom, I love you. Okay, let’s change the subject before I ugly cry.

The three teachers who have influenced me the most are Ms. Brooksbank, Mrs. Tedesco, and Mrs. Simon. They have given me more grace, kindness, help, and joy than I could handle. I could not thank them enough for what they have done. I have grown spiritually, academically, emotionally, and verbally here. God, my family, teachers, my friends, and I have reminded me that I am worthy and what I say and do matters. As a result, I have advocated for myself in class, participated more, opened up socially, and have stressed less about my work. These are only a few of the great things that have happened to me, and I know there will be more.

I have grown because so many people have helped me. Bethany has shaped me into the excellent, outgoing, hopeful, excited, and caring young man I am today. As I leave Bethany, I can’t wait to see what will happen next at The Summit Country Day School. It will be different, but change is good. Going to high school, going to college, then working my way to becoming a veterinarian are the steps to my next chapter. I don’t know what God will do, but I know it will be great. For the students still remaining here, I encourage you to remember the words of Oprah Winfrey, “God can dream a bigger dream for you than you can dream for yourself.”

🎉 Congratulations to rising Bethany 5th grader Gus Thomas on his outstanding achievement at the Butler County Fair's 4-H Junior Fair Special Interest Awards Program!

Gus placed as first runner-up for his Coin Collecting project as part of the "My Favorite Things" competition through Ohio State - Butler County 4-H. He is also a proud member of the Needles and Nibbles 4-H Club.

Way to go, Gus! 👏🏅

Today, we continue with Braysen Clark!

Braysen will be attending Archbishop Moeller High School after a fantastic educational journey at Bethany.

From his 8th Grade Speech:

Lucius Annaeus Seneca said, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.” This quote speaks to me because as I am getting ready to graduate, I am finishing one journey and starting a brand new one. My name is Braysen, and I have been here since the 2nd grade. When I first started here, everything felt brand new.I didn’t know anyone, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. But looking back now, I realize that I wasn’t just joining a school, I was joining a family. Over the years, this place has become a second home to me.

Bethany has taught me how to be brave and how to have fun. I’ll never forget being at Camp Joy looking up at the high ropes course. At first, I was scared I was not going up there, but I learned how to just hang on and keep going. I also remember Mammoth Cave. Walking through the cave learning about the different things inside the cave and having Nerf wars on the trip. Those field trips I loved just having a great time with my friends.

I wouldn’t be standing here today without the people who supported me. Mrs. Bush, thank you for teaching me how to read and write and checking up on me and my grades. I really appreciate how much you helped me out and made sure I was doing my best. Ms. Pruitt, you were always there for me, encouraging me to focus, lock in and get my work on time. Thank you for believing in me and giving extra time on my homework even though you're not supposed to. Mom, I want to thank you most of all. Even when we didn’t really have a lot of things, you always made it happen for me. You worked so hard to give me this life, and I love you.

Next year, I am heading to Moeller High School. While I’m saying goodbye to Bethany, I am being greeted with a ‘’hello’’ from my high school journey. It’s not scary. I’m excited about the new environment and challenges ahead. Fredrick Douglas once said, “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.” This reminds me that the hard work I did at Bethany and the hard work I will do at Moeller is what helps me grow into who I want to be. Thank you to my teachers, my friends, and my family.

Today, we continue with Ella Wood!

Ella will be attending The Summit Country Day School after a fantastic educational journey at Bethany.

From her 8th Grade Speech:

I am one of the second who have all been at Bethany since kindergarten. Hi, my name is Ella Wood, or as Mr. Dallas likes to call me, Wednesday Adams. Since I’ve been here for 9 years, I have seen the many shapes and forms Bethany has taken, but what hasn’t changed is the heart of it all, the welcoming community and family. In those nine years, I have gotten to know amazing people and create memories that will last a lifetime.

I remember when I was younger, sitting at the bottom row of the bleachers with crazy hair and rosy cheeks, wondering why the character pillars weren’t in rainbow order and being excited to move up a row as I got older. But the younger me had no idea how much this school would impact her in the future.

Through it all, my friends, family, and teachers have helped me, plus Mr. Dallas, I guess. They’ve all seen me at my worst and best, but somehow choose to put up with me today.

Thank you to my mom and dad for dealing with the late nights. You dealt with my horrible time management and supported me even if most of my own decisions were bad. I also want to say thank you to my Nana for always reminding me that I have homework and to write neatly. I love you guys so much, and I’m so grateful to be your daughter and granddaughter. The way you guys have shaped me into who I am today, I will forever be grateful for it. All I can hope is that you guys are proud of who I’ve become.

To my friends who have stuck with me for the whole 9 years or less, thank you for filling my life with so much joy. Thank you for making me feel so loved and letting me be my true self. You’ve always been my greatest supporters, and I’m forever grateful for all the friendships I’ve made.

Thank you to my teachers for always reminding me of my potential and helping me through all my highs and lows academically. I’m so glad I’ve been able to make personal connections with you all. Thank you, Mrs. Huff for being, as she would say, "My past, present, and future." You are one of the most organized and funniest people I have ever met, but I think you would disagree with me on that organized part. Thank you, Mrs. Pruitt for reminding me of what I can accomplish and making sure I am always comfortable. Thank you Ms. Achor for always having a smile on your face and checking up on me. Thank you, Mrs. Casperson for supporting and getting me through eighth grade science. Lastly, thank you, Mrs. Schlabach for being so caring and making me look forward to Spanish.

I can’t talk about gratitude without talking about the greatest person on earth, my older sister Maya. Since birth, she has been my role model, inspiration, and supporter. I love our late night talks on her bed when she’s home and our constant inside jokes that no one will get except us. The connection I have with her is like no other, and it holds the most special of special places in my heart. She reassures me when I tell her my worries and promises to always be right by my side. Even though we are 2,175 miles away, we could never be separated. Everyone who knows me knows her because of how much I like to brag about having the most awesome sister ever. So thank you, Maya, for being the best sister and person in the world. My mom is definitely crying.

The nostalgia that Bethany gives me is bittersweet. If it's memorizing all the prayers, the smell of the chapel, the cottages, or the traditions. I’ll also miss the small things that have been continuous throughout my experience here at Bethany. Like the random dance battles in history, the small conversations with Mr. Dallas, the banter with Cam and Jacob in the hallways, or spending time with Fimi and Piper. All of it that was once a normal daily thing will become nostalgia.

As we all know, life changes and I know I’ll have to accept those changes as I am progressing and maturing. As I look at all the people I have grown up with over the years, I think of all the memories we’ve shared together. The thought of not seeing all these familiar faces can be scary, but everyone has to go on their separate paths at some point. Everyone may or may not go on to accomplish their own dreams or goals, but that’s how we grow.

I wish I could tell the younger me to not take anything for granted and things will change, but you need to accept it and move on. Life will get hard, but I know more things are in store for me in the future, so trusting in myself is the best thing I can do. Like Dr. Seuss says, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the one who'll decide where to go.”

I will be continuing my education at The Summit and I can’t say if I’m more nervous or excited. This new journey will teach me more about myself and others. I’m excited to meet new people and I hope to become someone who inspires others and improves society. And with the education and life skills Bethany has provided, I will be able to do that.

So thank you to everyone here at Bethany who has continuously supported me through everything and fulfilled my life. Go Silver Knights!

Today, we continue with Corrin!

Corrin will be attending St. Xavier High School after a fantastic educational journey at Bethany.

From his 8th Grade Speech:

Wow. Time really does fly. Year after year, I’ve sat there listening to the 8th grade graduation speeches, knowing that it would eventually be me, but I didn’t think it would come this soon. It feels like just yesterday that I was walking into the old cottages for my first day of kindergarten, but now here I am, about to graduate.

My name is Corrin, and I would like to start by giving some shout-outs and thank-yous to the people who have supported my Bethany journey. First, my parents, who graciously helped fund my education here and inspired me to remain in this amazing place for all these years. They've given it their all to help me succeed, whether that's staying up late to help me with homework (sometimes assigned by my dad himself), to helping work the schedule around my extracurriculars and activities. Next, the rest of the class of 2026. I love you all and want you to know how much I’ll cherish the time we’ve spent and the memories we’ve made together, and that there’s no one else I would’ve wanted to share this journey with. I would also like to thank Mrs. Huff for being there for me and helping me when I needed it, and putting up with me for those full 4 years you had to teach me. Lastly, I’d like to thank Sr. Schlabach for supporting me and teaching me Spanish for the past 4 years and going out of your way to truly make sure I was prepared to continue my journey into high school, where I have tested into Honors Spanish 3. So thank you, all of you, for being there for me.

Having been here for so long, I’ve made a lot of memories in this place and with the people here, but a few in particular stand out. Memories like building a whole Rube Goldberg Machine to pie Rhys in the face, spending the day goofing around in the museum center, the Mammoth Cave field trip, and even just the time I spent together with my friends during the day are some of the core experiences I’ve had here. Not to mention some of the smaller things, like watching Mark Rober in class, making fun of Mr. Dallas for never wearing socks, and laughing at all the funny, albeit often stupid, stuff we do. While I may not be able to relive these moments, I will forever cherish them throughout high school and even past it.

Now, standing here, it occurs to me just how much I’ll miss this place. I remember my first day of school, walking in and seeing many of these now familiar faces for the first time, and being greeted by the teachers and community that would graciously welcome me and help shape me as a person for the next 9 years of my life. As Abraham Maslow once said, “One can choose to go back toward safety or forward to growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.” I will keep this quote in mind as I move on to high school at St. X, continuing on into the next stage of my life, but no matter the people I meet, the memories I make, or anything that happens next, I will always be the person that Bethany has made me, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

From his 8th Grade Speech:

A long time ago, Tupac once said, “I'm not saying I'm going to change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world.” Hello everyone, my name is Moses Browning, and I'm so happy to be here at Bethany School and a part of the 8th grade class. I would like to thank Mrs. Johns, Mrs. C., and Mrs. Anderson. These teachers have been the most influential, and they have really helped me out during the school year. Mrs. Johns is always there when you need her, if you want a hug or if you just need someone to talk to. That is the same thing with the other teachers, Mrs. C, and Mrs. Anderson. Also, I would like to thank my Mom and Dad. They are the reason I am here at Bethany. Without them, I would be at a school that wouldn't accept me for who I am, and I'm very grateful to my parents for everything they have done.

For the next academic year, I will be attending The Summit Country Day School, and I will take everything I learned from Bethany with me. Bethany was and still is the perfect school for me, and I made so many memories here. For example, one of my favorite memories at Bethany School is when we had our first picnic and a few of the boys started playing basketball in the gym. We started to get along right away. That's when I knew that we were going to be great friends for a long time. Now, I am going to the Summit Country Day school to continue to shine. I am very grateful for the people and friends I made at Bethany, and I'm also excited for the next chapter of my life, and look forward to making new friends and having memories. Lastly, I want to thank Bethany School for everything they have done for me and I look forward to whatever achievements come next as I continue my journey.

Max will be attending Roger Bacon High School after a fantastic educational journey at Bethany.

From his 8th Grade Speech:

Hello, everyone. I am so grateful for Bethany School. Even though I have only been here for two years, I have made so many memories. I made tons of friends that I will never forget and will have forever. My time here has been fun, and I feel like I’m a part of a family.

First off, I would like to thank my teachers for always pushing me to get all my work done and for seeing the best in me. I especially want to thank Mrs. Pruitt for always encouraging me and for being someone I can talk to. All the teachers here are very motivating and always want you to do your best work and help you make that happen.

I also want to thank my friends for accepting me right away and making me feel like I belonged. Some of my favorite memories at Bethany are playing basketball outside at recess, messing around with each other, and going to Kings Island together. You are the reason I wanted to come to school every day. Even though we are going to different schools, you will always be my people.

Thank you to my family for helping me find Bethany and for always supporting me. And thank you to my emotional support dog, Glorious Teddy, the GOAT.

Ja Morant once said, “If you don't believe in yourself, who will?” Bethany helped me learn how to believe in myself because so many other people believed in me first. I will take the self-confidence I have gained at Bethany into the rest of my life.
