⚾️BB: It wasn’t a dream! For the first time since 2003, the Gauchos will be headed to the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series in Enid, OK! Congratulations to Coach Ed Trujillo on this incredible accomplishment!

⚾️BB: It all comes down to this!
After an exciting two wins last weekend, the Gauchos have moved on to the NJCAA Region 1 Championship! The Gauchos will face the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes.
🏟️ALL games are played at CGCC.
🎟️Tickets are $5 for Adults, $3 students.

GCC Baseball just finished up their regular season schedule and qualified for the NJCAA Region 1 playoffs as the #4 seed. The Gauchos will play at Gateway Community College (Gene Autry Park) in a best of three series starting May 4 @ 3:00PM, May 5 @ 3:00PM, and May 6 @ 12:00PM (If necessary). The Gauchos had 4 players recognized for post season awards voted on by all 14 Head Coaches in the ACCAC.

We had an amazing season and although it didn’t end the way we envisioned it would, there were some great things we experienced along the way during some awfully difficult COVID-19 restrictions.

Here are some 2020-2021 season highlights:
•6 consecutive semesters with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher
•3rd consecutive year receiving the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award
•9 players receiving scholarships to play baseball at the next level
•We finished #2 in the ACCAC Division 2 standings
•We hosted the ACCAC Region 1 Semi-Final Playoffs as the #2 seed with victories over Scottsdale and Mesa
•ACCAC Conference Record: 19-19
•Overall Record: 25-27
•We advanced to the ACCAC Region 1 Finals, losing to Phoenix College in a 3-game series
•Coach Trujillo achieved his 100th career win as Head Coach at GCC
•All ACCAC First Team-All Conference: Caleb Thomason
•All ACCAC Second Team-All Conference: Brock Johnson
•All ACCAC Region 1 First Team: Caleb Thomason and Brock Johnson
•All ACCAC Region 1 Second Team: Colton Kucera and Alec Yamauchi
•Caleb Thomason was selected ACCAC Pitcher of the Week 3 times during the season
•Caleb Thomason tied for 4th in the Nation (NJCAA Division 2) for wins (8)
•Caleb Thomason was 7th in the Nation (NJCAA Division 2) with an ERA 2.04
•Mitchael Dyer tied for 7th in the Nation (NJCAA Division 2) with 5 saves

Coach Trujillo and his coaching staff would like to thank each player and their friends/families for their support of the team and for their adherence to the challenging/restrictive conditions that were placed upon the baseball program due to COVID-19. We had a great year with a great team and we are looking forward to great things ahead. We wish all our best to each player moving on from our program to what lies next for them.

Brock Johnson was selected 2ndTeam All-ACCAC Conference Catcher,1st Team All-Region D2 Catcher, Brock hit .372 in conference play this year with 35 hits, 10 doubles, 21 RBI’s

Colton Kucera was selected 2nd Team All-Region D2 Outfield...Colton hit .272 in conference play this year with 28 hits, 10 doubles, 3 home runs, 15 RBI’s

Alec Yamauchi was selected 2nd Team All-Region D2 Firstbase...Alec hit .325 in conference play this year with 39 hits, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 23 RBI’s

2021 GCC Gauchos

Congratulations to GCC Gaucho Baseball program. The Gauchos finished the regular season in 2nd place in the D2 standings. The Gauchos will host the Region 1 / ACCAC D2 Playoffs from 5/6/21-5/8/21. The Gauchos are the #2 seed and will play the winner of the #3 vs #5 seeds on Friday 5/7/21 at 10:30am at Glendale Community College Baseball Field.
Fans will now be allowed to sit in the stands behind home plate and will be asked to follow MCCCD Covid protocols. More information regarding those protocols will follow on this site.

UPDATE:
Thank you for your email. We will be allowing fans to the game beginning Monday, March 22. There will be a designated area for fans to enter. It will be located near the first baseline. In addition, we will have restrooms available for spectators located in the soccer field area North of the baseball field. We will have game management personnel at the game to answer any questions and assist in any way we can. Masks and social distancing are required. We are still working on the live streaming option as well. I hope this information is helpful. Thank you.

Here’s the updated ACCAC Baseball standings as of 3/21/21. GCC and Mesa are tied for 1st place in the D2 standings. It’s going to be a great second half of the season. Go Gauchos!
