Dear Glendale High School Community,
In our continued effort to ensure that students are on time, prepared, and ready to learn, Glendale High School will be implementing tardy sweeps throughout the school year.
On any given day, students who are late to school or class may be included in a tardy sweep. Students who are tardy will be assigned detention, either before school or after school.
We are asking for your support in reinforcing the importance of punctuality. Every minute of instruction matters, and when students arrive late, they miss valuable learning time and disrupt the learning environment for others. Students should plan ahead and allow enough time to arrive on campus and get to class before the bell.
This expectation applies to all periods, including first period. Traffic, parking, oversleeping, or the normal hustle and bustle of the morning will not be considered excuses for tardiness.
We also want to be clear that detentions assigned as a result of tardiness are expected to be served. Please do not call the school to request that a detention be excused or removed because your student was late.
We need the support of our families in reinforcing that arriving to school and class on time is the responsibility of every student.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to help our students develop strong habits of responsibility, accountability, and punctuality.
