What’s currently trending in Peoria Unified? Humble Leadership. In this episode, we are joined by this year’s Raymond S. Kellis Leadership Award Recipients that truly exemplify the legacy of Dr. Kellis, Peoria Unified’s former superintendent who led the district through its largest period of growth and was a tireless advocate for public education. These leaders include Michael Guffy from Heritage STEAM Elementary School, who currently teaches in one of his former classrooms; Lisa Alexander our Lead Nurse who has guided Peoria Unified through a truly unprecedented time with grace and kindness; And Sammy Chagolla from Marshall Ranch Elementary School whose story is inextricably tied to Peoria Unified’s own and has dedicated his life to creating the next generation of humble leaders!

You can listen to this episode of Trending Peoria on any major podcast platform or on our website at peoriaunified.org/trendingpeoria.

You can also learn more about all of Peoria Unified’s past Raymond S. Kellis Leadership winners at peoriaunified.org/KellisAward.

Our 8th grade students had a great time at our zoo field trip earlier this month that allowed them the opportunity to go on a scavenger hunt to find specific items tailored to the Life Sciences curriculum. We want to send a special thanks to all of our parent chaperones who made it possible for us to attend this trip and allow the 8th grade students to explore learning opportunities outside of the classroom.
