Wishing all of our Desert Heights families a Happy Holidays! Hope everyone has a wonderful winter break with taking time to celebrate with loved ones. We will see you back in January to kick off semester two!

We are excited to announce and congratulate Katie Lavarnia on recently being accepted to Arizona State University, Grand Canyon University and Northern Arizona University to study in the nursing field. Katie was offered the Provost scholarship at ASU, a President’s scholarship at GCU and the Lumberjack scholarship at NAU, which are remarkable! With your commitment and dedication towards your academics this is paying off with a merit-based scholarship and other possible opportunities! Katie, you’ve continued to work hard throughout your education with your continuing to challenge yourself with AP and Dual Enrollment courses along with balancing most of your high school years being a part of Varsity Girls Basketball team. We are very proud of you and hope that you continue working hard as you have a bright future ahead of you in the nursing field!

HS semester exam schedule during Dec. 19th-De. 23rd. Please plan accordingly as these are semester exams. See your email with details from your advisor. Be aware of your attendance as we are wrapping up the semester and it matters!

The Benefits of Recognizing Biliteracy - Language Magazine

Proud to say that DHPA offers world language opportunities from Spanish and French! Students have the opportunity to take 4 years of Spanish and as a senior take the Seal of Biliteracy exam, certifying students as bilingual. Opens the door for students with scholarships for college, career opportunities right out of high school and so many other doors that can open with this opportunity! Our seniors took a tour and learned more about the ASU- West campus! It was great to hear from our alumni, Avi Waxman that is about to graduate this month from Barrett's Honor college through ASU as well today. What a great experience for them!

Struggling to get your grade up as the semester is ending? Need some help preparing for final exams? National Honor Society will be hosting peer tutoring sessions during HS lunch on Thursday, December 8th and Thursday, December 15th in Mrs. Haldiman’s room, 204. Hope to see you there!

As we wrap up Coyote College Campaign month, we had West- Mec here to talk to our sophomores about their program, yesterday! It was great to hear about all of the opportunities they have for HS students and their adult programs!

Our juniors & seniors got a chance to hear about PVCC on Monday & Tuesday as well! We are excited to offer these opportunities throughout the month for our students to be exposed to so many different post secondary options! Thank you to all the programs that came by throughout the month for our students!

We are so glad you joined the DH family last year and have continued to grow in many ways these past two years. Proud of you for starting to your career path with working at our DH preschool and will continue your education to pursue the early education field. You’ve continued to work hard throughout your education with your continuing to challenge yourself and we hope you stay focused on your goals as we know you will accomplish them! Reminder to all HS Students taking AP & Dual Enrollment classes to take advantage of this opportunity to apply for the scholarship! Apply for the scholarship that will help you pay for your classes! We will be awarding two AP scholarships and one Dual Enrollment scholarship.

Complete applications are due this Friday, November 18th!

On Friday our sophomores learned more about the ACE program that they can apply to be a part of this year. Maricopa County Community Colleges offer this program where students can start to take college courses throughout the remaining of their high school years. Students can earn up to 24-32 college credits by the time they graduate for FREE if they qualify. We encourage all sophomores to apply, as it's a great opportunity! Tomorrow, students will be touring PVCC, which is one of the community colleges that offers the ACE program.

Love to see that our younger Coyote cubs at our elementary campus participating in college campaign month! Some awesome work from them about what colleges they want to attend and working on it in Spanish class! Thank you Maestra Rodriguez for hosting this activity with our cubs...it's never too early to start to talking about your kids future!

We’ve had the pleasure of having University of Advanced Technology here the last two days for a workshop with our juniors and seniors! Talking about the different programs they offer.

Reminder this week we will be hosting two different dress downs for Coyote College Campaign!
Tuesday, Nov. 8th, students can pay $2 to wear a college shirt and Thurs. Nov. 10th, students can wear a military shirt or camo for $2. Students MUST wear dress code compliance bottoms on both days!

All proceeds will help support Advisory scholarships for students!

As well with being a part of the dance team and being a part of Student Council throughout high school and maintaining your focus on your goals! We had a guest speaker from GCU talking to sophomore students about the requirements to apply, tuition and scholarships, degree programs, student life experiences, housing, and more!

Today kicks off our annual Coyote College Campaign month! Our advisory has planned fun activities throughout the month for students to get involved in and learn more about post secondary options! Keep your eyes out for ways to win prizes!

Our juniors took a tour at Glendale Community College today to learn more on what they offer. Starting to explore options for after high school. We love college tours!! 📚🎓

You’ve continued to work hard throughout your education with your continuing to challenge yourself with AP, Dual Enrollment courses along with being a part of the ACE program which is taking college classes on the weekends. All with balancing being involved in our competitive dance team throughout high school and National Honor’s Society which both take a lot of time as well. In state and out of state universities, community colleges, trade schools, apprenticeships and military branches will all be in attendance to talk to!

We will have a food truck on campus for families to grab dinner! As well with hosting the FAFSA Application night for seniors!

Thanks to everyone that came to our Senior Showcase last night at the Charter! Our Seniors did amazing and it was a great night! 🌎

Join us Tomorrow, Wed. Oct. 19th at 5:30pm-7:00pm at the Charter campus for our Senior Project Showcase! Seniors will be showcasing their project and how the community can rally behind them to support their project.

Lots of exciting things happening with the Book Fair, Slices with Specialties, Navigating through FAFSA workshop and Balfour will be there taking orders for class rings, letterman jackets and grad items! Come by and check it all out!
