As our new year begins, we want to introduce some familiar faces you will continue seeing around campus. See below to learn more about Ms. Perez!
Hi! My name is Hailey Perez, and I will be working in the learning center this year! I first started attending Desert Heights when I was in second grade, and after many years of memories, in May of 2022 I graduated. I found myself working here as of last September assisting in K-4th classrooms and was reminded of the love I have for the community my family and I have been a part of for 13 years now. I’m so thankful for the opportunity and cannot wait to get this new school year started!!

Hello, My name is Alexis Diaz. I will be returning this year as a 2nd grade teacher and I’m so excited for this adventure! I am a Phoenix native and prior to teaching, I worked at my family’s store, Mexican Arts Imports. One fun fact about me is I attended DHCS myself and became a DHPA alumni in 2019. I have one giant loving dog named Nala, and my boyfriend Ivan and I have been together for 6 years . I have 3 three sisters and many many cousins as we have a big family tree. In my free time, I love shopping, spending time with my dog, decorating, and catching up on shows.
I hope everyone stays cool in the fast few weeks of summer break and can’t wait to see you all when we return!

Hello, My name is Amy Bachmann and I have worked at Desert Heights Charter School for the last two years as a paraprofessional and a permanent substitute. I earned my bachelor's degree in education from Arizona State University. I began my teaching career in 2006 and have taught both first and second grade in Arizona and Hawaii.
My husband and I have a son named Bodhi, who will be starting kindergarten at Desert Heights this year. We moved back to Arizona two years ago after spending a decade on the Island of Kauai. Upon moving back, Desert Heights opened their arms to us and we have truly enjoyed being part of such a wonderful community. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, running, movies and traveling. I am thankful for the opportunity to take on my own first grade classroom this year and look forward to building good relationships with the staff and students at Desert Heights!
We are excited to announce and introduce some new staff members joining our community this year! Please join us in welcoming them to the Coyote Family! 👏

I graduated from Grand Canyon University in April 2023 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, and this will be my first year as a teacher. I also graduated from DHPA with the class of 2019 and completed a portion of my student teaching with Desert Heights last school year. While completing my degree, I have volunteered with Special Olympics Arizona and with the Civitan Foundation, working with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In my free time, I enjoy watching sports, especially basketball, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. I am excited to begin this journey and re-join the DH community once again!

Introducing... Mr. Alacron!
What’s up?! My name is Alonzo and I am pumped to start my first year at Desert Heights as a 4th grade teacher.
Way back in 2009, I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology from ASU and worked in laboratories, a wastewater treatment plant, and at the city in water service. COVID was a real bummer, but I did get the awesome opportunity to work at Chick-fil-A. Spicy Deluxe all day every day! I spent the last year as a clinician at a Lindamood-Bell Learning Center teaching students the fundamentals of reading comprehension. Which is how I discovered that my true passion lies in teaching. My girls will be attending Desert Heights in the Fall, so I decided to apply in order to be more connected with their young lives and pursue the field of education. Phew, that was a lot, but I love sharing my story whenever I get the chance to do so.
Enough about me, I’m married to a wonderful wife that helps keep me focused, together we have two daughters that are 3 and 5, oh and we have a pet rabbit named Ashley. Together we attend CCV (Christ’ Church of the Valley), not Ashley, he stays home and does bunny stuff. Ya know; hopping, nose wiggling, that kind of stuff. In what spare time I have; I enjoy reading, writing, singing, hiking, archery, and staying connected to others in groups. I’m really excited for this upcoming school year to learn and having fun with my students! Here’s to an epic learning adventure!
We are just 5 short weeks away from our Back to School Day! This day will help you prepare for the new school year, families will get to meet their teacher, get information needed from the front office, set up student meal accounts and more! We hope to see you there!
