Dear Arrowhead Families,

We need your help! Each year as part of the Monster Mash event, one of the traditions is to have a raffle for some fabulous themed gift baskets. The creation of the baskets depends on donations from each classroom.

Below you will find the list of themes, the grade level and teacher name. We are asking for donations that relate to the theme of your child's classroom. It doesn't have to be a grand item - just something fun that will help fill a basket.

If you are able to donate something, here's is what you do: Send the item to the classroom teacher. The room parents assigned to the class will help gather the items and put the basket together.

Please send in items by Monday, 10/23

Thank you very, very much!

Special Message from Nurse Debbie:

Vision can have a huge impact on how well your child learns. Vision referral letters for students who did not pass their 2nd vision screening this year have been sent home. If you need assistance in funding for an eye exam or glasses, check out the attached flyer about Eye Care from EyeCare4Kids AZ. It is open every Wednesday from 8-4. You can call 602-336-2208. They do not ask for insurance. Located on 43rd Ave. and Bethany Home.

Does your child still need his/her required vaccinations/immunizations? There is a free immunization clinic open as follows:

Dates: October 20th, and November 17th

Time: 2:30-6:00 pm

Location: Constitution Elementary School, 18440 N. 15th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85023

Please see attached flyer for additional details.

Open enrollment for 2024-2025 school year is available now. Any NEW students who will be attending Arrowhead Elementary (not their home school) and any students who would be moving on to other than their "home school" must submit an Open Enrollment Application for 24-25 school year. If you have any questions regarding Open Enrollment please contact our school registrar, Tricia Moore at 623-376-4106 or [email protected].

Please consider completing the Free and Reduced Meal Application link: http://www.ezmealapp.com/ Our Title I funding relies on all who qualify. If you already qualify, remember you will need to renew.

Do this as often as you can: Ask your child to tell you something he/she learned at school. It’s a tough question for children to answer, but an important one. Don’t just let them tell you what they did, find out what they learned!

Sincerely,

Jackie Dettorre

10/8/23 Arrowhead Weekly Message

Dear Arrowhead Families,

This week we are holding parent/teacher conferences. Hopefully, you have been able to sign up to meet with your child(ren)’s teachers. If not there is still time, please reach out to the teachers to set up a conference.

I’d like to clear up some information. Earlier in the week there was a child of about 10 years old riding his bike on the outside of our playground fence. He called to the students on the playground. Our students ran over to him. Our monitors were immediately calling the students back. A staff member saw that it was a child – we don’t know who and we don’t know why he wasn’t in school. Our students were spoken to and reminded about the playground boundaries – we don’t want them that far out on the field.

Monster Mash is coming soon. I’ve attached a few flyers about it. It will be on November 3rd @ 5-8. The planning is in the works. Raffle baskets are a big part of the tradition and we rely on you for help with them. Each classroom is assigned a theme for a basket. We ask for donations related to the class theme. Those donations can be sent to the teacher. The PTO and Room Parents will help put the baskets together.

Monday, October 9th – No School – Fall Break Day

Week of Oct. 10th – Parent/Teacher Conferences – Please watch for info from teachers. You may also reach out to the teachers.

Thursday, October 12th – Half Day – Students are dismissed at 12:05 pm

Friday, October 13th – Half Day – Students are dismissed at 12:05 pm

Friday, October 13th - Arrowhead Spirit Day – wear your Arrowhead shirt or colors

Have you heard? Every day – just after morning recess, all students in grades 1-6 gather in the gym for our morning assembly. Ms. Dettorre and a group of students lead everyone with announcements, our EQ Motto, and the Pledge of Allegiance. Each day a different student is recognized as our EQ Student of the Day. We also have “2 Joke Tuesday” each week. Students submit jokes to Ms. Dettorre. Two students are called up to share their jokes with everyone.

This leads me to our newest feature in the weekly message:

2 Jokes from the past Tuesday!

from Gabriel: Why are pirates called pirates? Because they Arrr!
from Natali: Why was the shark such a bad liar? Because he always told the “tooth.”
