August Lunch Menu 🍎
Welcome back to school! We would like to share some reminders for drop-off and pick-up! Remember to be safe, courteous and patient. Drop-off is at 8:30 am and Pick-up is at 3:30 pm on normal days, 2:00 pm on Early Release Fridays, and 12:05 on Half days.
Drop-Off:
Students arriving early to school for a program or club (band, chorus, etc) or by special permission, may be dropped in the front to enter through the front office.
Students who are eating breakfast at school may be dropped off as early as 8:15 – using the front parking lot. Otherwise, students should not arrive before 8:30.
1st-6th grade students will go to the big playground for morning recess. It is advised that all 1st through 6th grade students be dropped off in the east parking lot for easy access to the playground. Students will enter through the basketball court accessed from the east parking lot.
Students in Preschool and Kindergarten are dropped off in the front of the school. Preschool parents should use the left-side curb to park and sign in students. Kindergarten parents should use the right-side curb to drop off students. Do not park along the right-side curb. Staff will be available to help students get out of cars.
Pick-Up:
We dismiss at 3:30 and 2nd-6th grade students will exit from the gate at the end of the playground. We need parents to stay in the car and as you get closer to the end of the lane, your children will be directed to come to your car. By doing this, we should be able to keep the traffic flowing. Keep in mind dismissal doesn’t start until 3:30 for 1st through 6th grade students.
The front parking lot is used for Preschool, Kindergarten & 1st grade pick up only. Kindergarten parents will be given a color and # from the teachers. This will help expedite the pick up process and keep traffic flowing.
Preschool parents should use the left-side curb to park and sign out students. Kindergarten & 1st grade parents should use the right-side curb to pick up students. Do not park and leave your vehicle along the right-side curb. Staff will be available to help students get into cars.
Siblings of Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students will be permitted to exit from the front of the school to make pick up locations easy on parents. Keep in mind, Kindergarten starts dismissal at 3:20, but older siblings don’t dismiss until 3:30.
Another option for drop off / pick up is the back gate off of 73rd and Julie. See the map for further clarification.
DVUSD Parent Update - August 1st 2022
Dear DVUSD Families,
Welcome back for the 2022-23 school year! We look forward to seeing our students on the first day -- this Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
Our teachers, administrators, and support staff have been working hard all summer preparing for another extraordinary year together. For all you need to know about returning to school, visit www.dvusd.org/firstday22 and your child’s school website.
Meet the Teacher Events
We encourage all of you to attend the various Meet the Teacher/Open House events that are taking place before school starts and those that occur early in the school year for our upper grade students. Thank you to those parents and guardians who have already attended an event for this upcoming school year. Remember, it is never too early nor too late to get involved with your child’s education!
School Communication & Forms
The PowerSchool registration support system sent an email to all parents with the required return to school and emergency forms. Please follow the instructions in that email to complete the forms electronically for each student in the District. (Each student has an individualized code to identify the child and complete the corresponding forms.) These forms may have been sent to a junk or spam folder, if you do not see it in your email inbox. During this process, please ensure all contact information is updated and correct, including your phone numbers and email address. The contact information provided is used by your child’s school and DVUSD’s communication system for email, text, and phone calls.
If you have not been receiving communication from the district or your child’s school, it may be the case that you have opted out or blocked your contact information in the system. To opt a phone number back into the system, call the Blackboard Phone Hotline at "855-502-STOP (855-502-7867)" from the phone line that has been opted out. To opt back in to receiving text messages from the system, text START to "60680" from the phone line that has been opted out for messages. If you have not received emails from your child’s school check your junk or spam messages and follow these instructions.
