Desert Heights Preparatory Academy (DHPA)

With an academic, technology, fine arts and athletics focus, Desert Heights Preparatory Academy (“ Welcome to Desert Heights Preparatory Academy!

At DHPA, we take to heart the Latin phrase, Esse quam videri (“To be, rather than to seem”). This motto signifies our community’s commitment to be the best; to explore, question, communicate and evaluate, as these are skills necessary for life-long learning and high moral character. Instead of relying on familiar ways of looking at the world, instead of depending on what we think we already know,

Join us in welcoming Ms. Wooden to our Desert Heights Family!

Hello, my name is Mrs. Aimee Wooden! Teaching has always been my passion, and I firmly believe that every student has the potential to excel in mathematics. I am dedicated to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment where students feel empowered to explore the fascinating world of numbers, equations, and problem-solving. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University. My teaching journey began 4 years ago, and I have had the privilege of guiding young minds in various educational settings. My experience ranges from teaching in public schools to tutoring and working with students with diverse learning needs.

In my classroom, I strive to create an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment where every student feels valued and encouraged. I believe in the power of differentiated instruction, tailoring my teaching methods to suit the unique learning styles and needs of each student. Although mathematics can be a complex subject, I am committed to making it accessible and enjoyable for all. I emphasize real-world applications to help students see the relevance of what they're learning. My goal is to instill a growth mindset in my students, fostering resilience and a strong sense of determination to tackle challenges head-on. We'll embark on a journey of discovery, utilizing interactive activities, collaborative projects, and technology to enhance understanding and engagement.

When I am not in the classroom inspiring mathematicians, I am spending time with my family. I have three sons ages 14, 11, and 3, an amazing husband, a grumpy old cat, and an energetic Boston Terrier. We enjoy hiking, swimming, and all things outdoors when the weather allows. When it does not, we like watching movies, crafting, and playing board games.
