Mountain Ridge Community,

It was just brought to our attention that our campus parking lot and entry driveways are going to be re-paved this coming Saturday and Sunday, July 15-16, 2023. This has been an ongoing project this entire summer and the company has time to finish the project this weekend.

This means the front entrance to our school off of 67th Avenue will be closed this entire weekend, additionally, the bus lane will be closed and the main student parking lot will be closed as well. We are asking that everybody stay off of campus this coming weekend.

We do have a Football Booster Meeting on Saturday morning in the Auditorium, we will ask that all of those families park in the Patrick Lane parking lot and on Patrick Lane itself. Those families will need to enter campus from our Northeast Entry Gate and then walk over to the Auditorium. But those will be the only people allowed on campus.

Thank you for your understanding as we work diligently to make our campus look great

Parents, please note that even though you might start seeing schedules appear in PowerSchool for the upcoming school year, those are not necessarily final schedules and are subject to change.

Once a school builds their "master schedule" it gets uploaded into the system and the computer then assigns students to the classes. But at that point every school needs to go back through those schedules and might need to change them based on such things like class sizes, changes in availability, changes in programs, or simply errors in placement.

This is why we ask our students to check PowerSchools right before they come to school that first day to see what classes they will actually have and who their teachers will be.

And just so you know, this is the same for all Deer Valley schools - schedules are not really final until school actually starts.

Mountain Ridge Community,

We are excited to welcome Gavin Lutman as our new Head Football Coach.

Gavin comes to us with a tradition of success in several aspects of the game.

His achievements began in high school, leading his team to a state championship title. While at Pittsburg State University, he earned dual bachelor’s degrees in business administration and marketing. He finished his collegiate career as an All-American Wide Receiver and National Champion. He then signed and played professionally with the Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

After concluding his professional career, his journey with football continued as he transitioned to becoming a coach. In the valley, he has been instrumental in bringing success to both the Horizon and Cactus Shadows football programs. He has helped many athletes prepare and earn college scholarships. Coach Lutman plans to use his knowledge to mentor and develop student-athletes on and off the field. Gavin lives in Mesa, with his wife Sarah, son Titus and new baby girl, Gianna. They enjoy outdoor adventures and traveling as a family.

Gavin will be at camp this coming Tuesday, May 30th, so he can meet the players in the program.
