Rosalva Arellano created a capstone inspired by David Hockey called “Through the Lens: Perspective in Allied Health”

Stephen Luong’s capstone investigates how Vietnamese culture emphasizes wisdom and communal values throughout their life as a Vietnamese-American.

Alexa Ramirez chose to focus her capstone work around the influence that family, friends, and teachers have had on them. Painting hands as a symbol of affection and nature scenes that remind them of people in their life.

Anabella Bolgiano, Gloria Carranza, Estrella Perez and Zachary Miller created ceramic pieces highlighting their growth for their capstone project

Two Arizona teens head to Broadway to compete in Theatre awards Two Phoenix-area high school students will compete in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as the Jimmy Awards, in New York.

Maryanna Anquoe’s capstone project captured their own cultural traditions of being native American and going to powwows.

Emily Phillips created a series of slip-cast ceramic ducks with hand-built alterations for her capstone project.

RSK students Aidan and Veronica received their art seal in Music! Aidan Marschand created a pep band for the RSK basketball games for his capstone project. Veronica Rennells composed a piece of music called “Covid: about her experience being a Frehsman during the time of Covid

For their capstone project Annmarie Sweetsir, Eddie Gonzalez, and Kara Lee all took part in the production team for the play Trap. Annmarie Sweetsir directed the piece, Eddie Gonzalez completed the lighting design and Kara Lee did the costume design.

Over the next few weeks, we will celebrate some of the 2024 Art Seal recipients by highlighting some of their capstone projects! 127 of our PUSD students achieved a total of 131 Arts Proficiency Seal this school year and we could not be prouder! This is a prestigious award given to those who have shown mastery of the Arizona Arts education standards and is recognized by the state with a seal on their diploma.

Incredible artwork on display floor to ceiling at the Sundance Elementary SchoolArt Show that proudly spotlights K-8th grade Art students at Sundance Elem. This show was based on the work of artist Henri Rousseau. Thank you Mrs. Scheidemandel for putting it together & special thanks to our Superintendent Dr. Somers and governing board Melissa Ewing for attending!

Another outstanding “Art Walk” art showcase at the HS Smart center. On Thursday, there was incredible artwork on display, jazz & mariachi performances & halls were filled with students, staff & community all coming together to celebrate the Arts!

On Tuesday, May 7th 20+
artists were spotlighted at the
Young Artist Showcase. The City Hall Pine rooms was filled to capacity with students, parents & educators who came out to celebrate the incredible student artwork. Congratulations to our artists!

Thank you & for hosting the Concert Band for a studio recording session. The band was able to capture some of its favorite selections from this school year & record the school’s fight song too! A great day for our students!

The Peoria Unified Honor Choir invites you to join them for their final performance of the year on Wednesday, May 15th, at 7:30 pm in the Ironwood Auditorium. We hope to see you there!
