Last March, Peoria Unified proudly hosted the first-ever math madness competition testing high school student’s mastery of mathematical theorems and formulas, spanning from basic algebra to advanced calculus. According to greatschools.org, 56% of Peoria Unified high school students are enrolled in dual enrollment compared to the 16% state average. Meet Aranda Thompson, an Exceptional Student Services Strategist! Over the past 15 years, Aranda has made a significant impact on students and teachers across Peoria Unified. As a respected member of the community, Aranda inspires colleagues and students alike with her passion for education and belief in the potential of every student.
During the 2024-25 school year, Cianna Brooks, a senior at Sunrise Mountain High School, was named one of 20 seniors in Arizona to receive the 2025 Flinn Scholarship valued at $135,000! In addition to Cianna, three other seniors from Peoria High School, Liberty High School and Centennial High School were recognized as semifinalists, receiving $15,000 per year at in-state universities. Students in Peoria Unified are provided with unique opportunities to enhance learning in and out of the classroom. Oasis Elementary School was the recipient of an Artemis One Moon Tree from NASA, one of only two in the state of Arizona. This tree was planted at the end of last school year and will be used to aid in STEM education. During the 2024-25 school year, Peoria Unified had three students receive perfect composite scores on the ACT Test, including one student receiving perfect scores in all subject areas on the exam. From Marshall Ranch Elementary, meet Katie Trojanek, a Title 1 instructional assistant! Katie teaches corrective reading, manages technology resources, and actively participates in after-school activities. Her ability to tailor instruction to meet individual student needs has significantly improved reading skills and fostered a love for learning among her students.
