Peoria Unified School District

Peoria Unified School District Every Student, Every Day, Prepared to Shape Tomorrow. One of the many ways the district fulfills this commitment is the use of social media accounts.

Social Media Code of Conduct
Peoria Unified remains committed to fostering parent and community engagement to support student success. These accounts allow Peoria Unified to celebrate student and staff achievements, share important information and showcase the great things happening in the district, while also providing an avenue for the community to engage with this content through likes, shares

and meaningful discussion in the comments. The Communications & Public Relations Department maintains the district’s social media accounts and supports the implementation of the school’s social media accounts. The community is encouraged to engage with these channels in a manner that is productive and open-minded. What comments will be hidden or removed? Peoria Unified will hide or remove comments that:
- Break the law or encourage others to do so.
- Identify students in a way which would be considered a violation of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Identify students or staff in a way which would be considered a violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Are spam (i.e. repeatedly posting the same comments that advertise or promote a service or product). We encourage participation on our social media channels. We ask that you exercise civility and goodwill in your communication. When engaging with Peoria Unified’s social media pages, please keep in mind that your name and photo or image appears next to your comments and are publicly visible to the thousands of visitors to the page. Be aware that your comments and posts are public and may be used by anyone, including news media for stories and other content. Peoria Unified does not support or endorse the viewpoints posted by individual users. By posting to Peoria Unified’s social media channels, you acknowledge and agree to this Social Media Code of Conduct set forth from the district. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Peoria Unified’s Communications and Public Relations Department at [email protected]. The most up-to-date Code of Conduct can be viewed at https://www.peoriaunified.org/page/social-media-code-of-conduct.

Strong schools start with strong partnerships. Last week, Peoria Unified's Communications & Public Relations Department met with representatives from the Peoria United Parent Council and UPC PVUSD to discuss new ways to strengthen communication and increase parent and community engagement. We're grateful for the parents who volunteer their time, share their perspectives and help us create the best possible experience for students and families. Peoria Unified has had a voter-approved override since 1996. In November 2025, voters did not approve a 15% M&O override, so existing funding has begun to phase out. The loss of this override paired with declining enrollment and rising costs of underutilized facilities forced the district to implement a $21 million budget reduction for FY 2027. If Prop 428 is not approved, the district will continue to reduce its budget by another $11 million next year. Learn more about Prop 428 at peoriaunified.org/election.
