Real-world expertise brought valuable insight to Thunderbird High School! 🎶📣 Students in Choir and Cheer had the opportunity to hear from Dr. David Lott, a professor of Otolaryngology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery/Audiology at Mayo Clinic Arizona.

Dr. Lott shared practical guidance on vocal health and ways students can protect and care for their voices. Experiences like this connect classroom learning with professional expertise and help students see how their interests can shape future opportunities. A special thank-you to Dr. Lott for sharing his knowledge with Thunderbird students!

🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏔️ A strong showing in Flagstaff for Greenway High School Cross Country!

Competing at elevation, the Demons delivered standout results in the Ascent Division, highlighted by a 2nd-place finish from the boys’ varsity team and a 7th-place finish from the girls’ varsity team. Congratulations to all the Greenway runners who represented their school on the course, along with the medalists who earned top finishes!

The first weeks of school are off to an amazing start! We are proud to celebrate 100% attendance in our morning session and an incredible 94% attendance among our at-home learners during their Welcome WebEx Orientation—the best attendance yet! 🎉

Our students’ momentum is soaring! We are especially proud of our seniors, who are taking charge of their academics, checking their credits, and making plans to pace themselves toward returning to their home campus or graduating in December or May. 🎓

Big things are ahead for Sunnyslope High School senior Darius Wabbington! 🏀

After a standout summer competing on the national stage, Darius represented USA Basketball at the 2026 FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup, helping the team earn a silver medal. He also competed with Compton Magic on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, continuing to gain valuable experience against top-level competition.

With college recruitment underway and Darius ranked among the nation’s top prospects, his hard work and dedication are opening doors for an exciting next chapter. Congratulations, Darius, on an impressive summer and continued success on and off the court!

Senior Darius Wabbington has had a busy summer and official offseason. According to Sports Illustrated, Darius "Played for Compton Magic for the Adidas 3SSB circuit... He also took part in the 2026 FIBA U18 Men's AmeriCup with USA Basketball, helping them win a silver medal after putting up 9.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals in five games."

Darius is deep in recruitment talks and is currently labeled the national #15 recruit in the NCAA.

Students at Moon Valley High School are getting a firsthand look at how classroom learning connects to real-world careers. During a visit to the campus front office remodel, construction students observed a project in progress and saw the skills and processes behind the work.

Career & Technical Education helps students turn their interests into practical experience, giving them opportunities to explore career pathways, build industry-relevant skills, and prepare for life after high school.

Leadership, service, and teamwork were at the forefront for Apollo High School NJROTC cadets who took part in the Glendale Police Department’s Youth Leadership Academy.

The week-long experience introduced cadets to law enforcement careers through interactive activities, demonstrations, and opportunities to learn directly from Glendale Police Officers. Beyond gaining a closer look at public safety, the cadets developed skills in communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and leadership.

Experiences like this help GUHSD students explore career pathways while building the confidence and skills needed to make a positive impact in their communities.

Another Throwback Thursday to June 8–12, 2026, when seven Apollo High School NJROTC cadets participated in the Glendale Police Department Youth Leadership Academy. Throughout the week, the cadets gained a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement operations and learned about the many roles within the department.

They participated in hands-on activities, demonstrations, and experiences that provided valuable insight into the daily responsibilities of law enforcement officers. The academy also gave the cadets the opportunity to interact with and build positive relationships with Glendale Police Officers.

Through these experiences, AHS cadets strengthened their leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Overall, the academy provided the cadets with a meaningful experience that helped them better understand law enforcement and community service.
